"Harry James Potter, you foul, loathsome little sneak!" Hermione found herself shrieking the next morning as she walked with Draco on her way to the library.

Everyone who was in the hall suddenly stopped and turned to watch this display. Two thirds of the Golden Trio at their school at each other's throats? This was perfect gossip material.

Hermione thought she could contain herself. She thought she could be civil, but the Gryffindor within her took over the second she saw her idiotic friend. The only thing keeping her sane was Draco holding her hand and keeping her grounded.

Meanwhile, Harry stopped dead in his tracks. If there was anyone in the world you didn't want to make angry, it was Hermione Granger, and Harry knew that perfectly well. What he didn't know was why Hermione was cross with him. Surely she couldn't have known about last night? He decided to just play it off and be surprised by Draco's presence in Hermione's life.

"Blimey, Hermione! What's gotten into you? And why are you so friendly with a Malfoy? You know that family is nothing but trouble. The whole lot of them." He tried to look disgusted by her actions, which oddly enough, came surprisingly easy to him. It must have been the years of fake rivalry with Malfoy that helped him.

"What's gotten into me?" She demanded. Disbelief was plastered all over her face. "Y'know what?" She asked, all while taking a deep, calming breath. "We don't have time for this because we have to go study, don't we, Draco?" She asked, turning to him.

"Yes, we do, Hermione." Suddenly, everyone in the hall turned to look at him for what seemed to be the first time. He looked cold, and closed off, but more so than usual. His eyes were like stone and seemed to hold no emotion. The only one who could see the courage beneath that cold facade was Hermione, and she squeezed his hand to reassure him. He gratefully returned the gesture.

As they began to walk away, Draco stopped.

"By the way, I believe this belongs to you." He said. His voice sounded like ice and sliced through Harry's entire body, rendering him frozen. With his free hand, Draco slammed the Marauders Map into Harry's chest, and walked away with Hermione to the library.
