CHAPTER TWO | The past is in the past

Finally Coach Sylvia is back from her trip and we had practice. I've been waiting for this moment since a lot. I loved cheerleading.

Today was a perfect sunny day, October was still starting, and nothing could possibly ruin my day.

"Umm you're blocking my view of the Coach"

I turned around to see Emily Cosgrave standing behind me. I gave her a neutral look, and with the coldest tone I replied "then go stand over there" I pointed with my finger at an empty space next to a guy. We were standing in a half circle, listening to the Coach's orders.

"But if you move to the right a little bit I'll have a clear vision than standing over there"

I didn't want to slap her, not yet, so I calmly swallowed my anger, and again replied to her useless words "Well I'm not moving Emily, so shut up and listen to what the coach is saying".

I knew what she was doing. She was acting all bitchy because I was chosen to be the head cheerleader, not her. What she didn't know is that I didn't give a flying fart about her.

Her face started becoming furious. You could see some steam rising from her hair "Coach Sylvia!" She interrupted the coach and made everyone look at her "I'm sorry Coach but this is not nice"

I started hearing her voice becoming high pitched, as if she was crying or something, so I turned to see her forming this innocent face. I couldn't believe her. She was such a bitch.

"Excuse me Emily?" The coach had this puzzled look on her face. She stopped reading from the file she was holding, and started looking at Emily.

"I can't work in this atmosphere Coach, it's just that I want us all to be friends but Katherine here is being really mean and she insulted me for no apparent reason" She was starting to make these childlike faces and the naivety could be read all over her face "She even threatened to beat me if I don't stop talking"

I turned to look at Coach Sylvia who had this disappointed yet confused look on her face.

I did nothing but stood there, realizing what just happened. All of the other cheerleaders looking at me in a disgusting way.

She is the whore, not me!

"Is this true miss Johns?" the Coach had this stiff tone.

"No Coach, she's lying!"

"Now why would she miss Johns? Can't you see the look on her face? She looks frightened as hell!"

I was speechless. I was standing there, open arms, trying to comprehend what was happening; I quickly turned to see this smirk on Emily's face. I looked at the coach again. I had no words. Then when Coach Sylvia looked at Emily, I turned to see her innocent face reappearing.

"Coach I assure you, what she just said is full of crap!"

"Yeah, we'll see what the principal will do about you threatening another student. Come with me, now."

****

And there I was walking into the same hellish door again. Sitting on the same uncomfortable leather chair. Staring at the same bald man.

I didn't say anything. I let the coach do all the talking.

While she was describing in details what happened, an unpleasant grimace was being formed on Mr. Brandon's face. He looked frustrated.

"This is getting out of my hands miss Johns, I can't help you anymore. I have to give you detention hours".

"I understand."
