Chapter Fifteen; Hello and Goodbye

Second chances, why do some people get them? What do they mean? Was the thought in June's mind as she finally saw other things instead of black.

The words second chance, mean that you are given a chance to learn from your mistakes. While some people believe that every tomorrow should be s second chance, others don't give anyone a chance to fix things. June has always seen second chances as that they are given not deserved and had never thought of them as a way to make things right, but to prove that you can be better after your fall.

In the words of Marianne Williamson, "Until we have seen someone's darkness, we don't know who they are. Until we have forgiven someone's darkness, we don't know what love is."

As movement returned to June's limbs, June concluded of, Everyone deserves a chance to clean up their mistakes. After the stiffness left her body, she felt a rush of pain. Her arms and legs were sore from being left in the same positions for however long. With great pride, June smiled as she moves to sit up. Instead of being in the corridor by the library, June was in a bed in the infirmary. June watched as all the other petrified students awakened and began to move about, Madam Pomfrey rushed about the Wing checking over each student, then gave them the okay to go to the Great Hall for their much-needed food. Finally, June was cleared, and even in her pyjamas, June headed to the Great Hall to enjoy the feast.

June skipped her way to the Great Hall. June had been to several Hogwarts feasts, but never one quite like this. Everybody was in their pyjamas, and the celebration lasted all night. June rushed to her brother with a cheerful face almost screaming that they solved it. Hermione also came running toward him, screaming "You solved it! You solved it!" and Justinhurried over from the Hufflepuff table to the Gryffindor's, with his hand and apologize endlessly for suspecting him. And then as half-past three, Hagrid turned up, cuffing Harry and Ron so hard on the shoulders that they were knocked into their plates of trifle. June sent a broad grin Harry and Ron's way as they were given four hundred points for Gryffindor securing the House Cup for the second year running.

Professor McGonagall stood up to tell them all that the exams had been cancelled as a school treat, which received an "Oh, no!" from Hermione. Then Dumbledore announced that, unfortunately, Professor Lockhart would be unable to return next year, owing to the fact that he needed to go away and get his memory back. Quite a few of the teachers joined in the cheering that greeted this news. At the news, Megan's smile fell a small bit and James Black stood up and cheered loudly, earned laughter from a couple of people.

The rest of the final term passed in a haze of blazing sunshine. Hogwarts was back to normal with only a few, small differences — Defense Against the Dark Arts classes were cancelled and Lucius Malfoy had been sacked as a school governor. Draco was no longer strutting around the school as though he owned the place. On the contrary, he looked resentful and sulky. On the other hand, Ginny was perfectly happy again, and she was joining James, Maribelle, and June in their games again.

The feeling coming off of almost all the students, you could feel how everyone was extremely excited for the summer holidays. The Gryffindor common room was filled with the excited chatter, and June was enjoying the company of her friends. As the end of the term grew closer, Maribelle, Ginny and June grew closer bonds of friendship, and the bonds of the three girls and James Black became for defined.

Too soon, it was time for the journey home on the Hogwarts Express. June chose to join the Weasleys, her brother and Hermione in a compartment instead of her friends for she had missed them. They made the most of the last few hours in which they were allowed to do magic before the holidays. They played Exploding Snap, set off the very last of Fred and George's Filibuster fireworks, and practised disarming each other by magic. June and Harry were getting very good at it.

During the ride, Harry had managed to talk June into stay with Harry over the summer. He talked her into moving in with him and their mother's side of the family.

They were almost at King's Cross when Harry remembered something.

"Ginny — what did you see Percy doing, that he didn't want you to tell anyone?"

"Oh, that," said Ginny, giggling. "Well - Percy's got a girlfriend." Fred dropped a stack of books on George's head.

"What?"

"It's that Ravenclaw prefect, Penelope Clearwater," said Ginny. "That's who he was writing to all last summer. He's been meeting her all over the school in secret. I walked in on them kissing in an empty classroom one day. He was so upset when she was -- you know - attacked. You won't tease him, will you?" she added anxiously.

"Wouldn't dream of it," said Fred, who was looking like his birthday had come early.

"Definitely not," said George, sniggering.

The Hogwarts Express slowed and finally stopped.

June watched as Harry pulled out his quill and a bit of parchment and turned to Ron and Hermione.

"This is called a telephone number," he told Ron, scribbling it twice, tearing the parchment in two, and handing it to them. "I told your dad how to use a telephone last summer - he'll know. Call me at the Dursleys', okay? I can't stand another two months with only Dudley to talk to..."

"Oi, I'm gonna be there too," June laughed hitting the boy's shoulder.

"Your aunt and uncle will be proud, though, won't they?" said Hermione as they got off the train and joined the crowd thronging toward the enchanted barrier. "When they hear what you did this year?"

"Proud?" said Harry. "Are you crazy? All those times I could've died, and I didn't manage it? They'll be furious..."

And together they walked back through the gateway to the Muggle world. June followed Harry, and leaning against a car was a large beefy man, and inside the car, June could see a very skinny lady with very pointed features sat in the passage seat, then behind her was a boy around Harry's age who was blond, large and beefy like the man.

The man watched June with beady eyes.

"You're not bringing along one of her freaky little friends," he barked at Harry.

"This is June, my sister," Harry introduced.

The pointed looking lady suddenly turned to look at June. As the beefy man started to say something to Harry about how he wasn't stupid, June and the lady watched each other. Petunia was looking at her sister again, at the age where their relationship had gone downhill. A strangled cry escaped her, drawing the attention of her husband.

"Petunia? Petunia are you alright?" the man asked.

As tears built up in the corner of her eyes, words escaped her, "Lily did have another kid, I thought she was killed too,"

With a groan from Vernon, and him shoving in both Potter's trunks in the boot of the car. They were off to the Dursley's home. They were off to number four Privet Drive. And well, June was excited about the upcoming summer.
