(Kevin's P.O.V.)I'd been sat in a clearing deep within Fox Forest for a while, I needed some time to be alone with my thoughts and feelings. I was an emotional mess and couldn't stop the tears from falling down my face.
I heard a crack of some sticks not too far from where I was sitting, but didn't think much of it, until I heard someone call out my name. I looked up from where I was sitting and watched as the shadowed figure came out from above the clearing, down to where I was sitting.
Finally, I got a clear image of who was standing by the tree.
"Kevin?" Jughead asked as he emerged from behind the tree. "Is everything alright?"
I was in a bit of a state of shock, as Jughead was the last person that I expected to see.
"Jughead?" I say in a very confused voice.
He gestured toward the log, and I scooted futher down it to make room for him. He sat down, and the turned to face me.
"Kevin," He started off, sounding incredibly forlorn. "I don't know what happened, but I'm in the same boat as you. Tonight hasn't been so great for me either."
We both sat in silence for a few minutes, until he broke the silence.
"What's on your mind, Keller?" He asked me with eager, but slightly puffy eyes, evoking a slight smile on my face, while also a look of concern.
It's been harder to talk to people about what's been going on, and everybody sees me as this "happy and go-lucky guy", which is true for the most part, but is not always the case. I still hurt like every other teenager out there, except for one beanie wearing, mysterious guy, that is until tonight, when he showed the first ounce of emotion that I'd ever seen him display publically.
I let out a huge sigh, my breath slightly trembling.
"So, you know Moose, right? Mason?"
Jughead starts to slightly nod as I continue on.
I take another deep breath.
"Well, don't tell anybody about this, but him and I have been secretly hooking up."
Jughead's eyes went slightly wide, but gestured for me to continue.
"I can see myself liking him a whole lot, and I've been loving these past few weeks, but it's really hard when he wants to keep all of this under-wraps and in secrecy, and while I get it, it's just making every time I see him in the hallway unbearable, since he has to practically pretend like he doesn't know me."
I began to look down at the ground, when I was slightly startled by the feeling of a hand touching my shoulder, and I look over and see Jughead gently rubbing it and signaling that everything's going to be okay. What's gotten into him?
I snap out of thinking about Jughead and continue on with my story.
"So, late one night down at Sweetwater River, Moose and I were making out in the back of his truck, when we heard a few heavy footsteps. Moose got out to see who was there, and it turned out to be Reggie and a few of the guys from the Football team. Reggie and the guys assumed that it was Midge inside the truck instead of me luckly, or else I'm sure that he'd have sneaked a peek. Ever since that night and the close call we had, Moose has been keeping me at a distance, and I just don't know what to do."
My breath started to sound shaky, and I found myself shedding a few tears, to which I made sure to wipe quickly away with the sleeve of my sweater.
Jughead's hand stayed on my shoulder, with his thumb rotating in a circular motion right on my shoulder blade. It felt a bit weird, seeing as it was Jughead, but it also felt strangly right. At that moment in time, I felt myself being pulled closer towards Jughead. Something about him made me feel anxious all of a sudden, as if dozens of butterflies just go released into my stomach. I stared into his eyes and felt my worries and problems go away. As the space between us started growing smaller, he started to talk, which broke me out of my trance.
"Wh-What?" I asked him unsure of what he had just said. "Sorry, I was a bit.. distracted."
Jughead chuckled as he repeated himself.
"I asked if you wanted to go somewhere where we won't get eaten to death by mosquitoes or get hypothermia."
I looked up at him again and nodded.
As fast as he had come to Fox Forest, we left and went to a seemingly mysterious location.
While we were walking, I all of a sudden felt something get put on me, when I saw that Jughead was giving me his jacket.
"You looked cold, so I figured why not?" He said with a slight smirk, making me blush uncontrollably.
"Thank you," I said while gazing into his vibrant green eyes, making me blush yet again.
As we continue walking a bit further along the path outside of Fox Forest, I suddenly heard a twig snap, sending shivers down my spine, while also scaring the ever-living daylights out of me, almost sending me flying.
Jughead looked ahead to see a squirrel out, gathering food before retreating away at the sight of us.
"Watch out Kevin, that squirrel might be in the mood for.. BRAINS!!" Jughead joked as he sounded like a zombie.
I laughed harder than I had in a long while, and looked down to see that our hands were intertwined. We both looked at each other for a moment before we both took our hands away and looked away very suddenly.
We began walking in silence until I saw a place very familiar to almost every teenager here in Riverdale.
"Riverdale High?" I ask very confused. "What are we doing here?"
Jughead smirks and takes my hand, as we traverse around the outside of the school and through the unlocked door in the gym.
We made our way through the dimly-lit halls, and found ourselves in the music room.
Jughead reached up toward the upper part of the door frame and pulled a key from atop it. He unlocked the door as we both piled on into the room.
"This is one of the only places in Riverdale where I can truly be alone and have the peace and quiet that a writer needs," Jughead lamented as I wandered around the room, as I'd never been in there before.
I started looking around at all the musical instruments and smiled.
"How do you get your writing done in here when you're surrounded by all these?" I asked as I picked up an acoustic guitar in my hands.
He looked up at me and just smiled back at me.
"I have my methods," He half-whispered in a playfully sly way as he started walking toward me.
I took a seat in one of the stools sitting in the middle of the room with the acoustic guitar in hand, and looked down as I tried to play it.
"Do you know any songs?" He asked as he approached, standing directly in front of me.
"I do know one, but it's from elementary school, so don't judge me please!" I replied back with a slight chuckle and grin as I begin playing "Mary Had A Little Lamb", quietly singing along to it.
After I finished the song, Jughead broke out into applause as we both laughed super hard.
I looked up at him, and he looked down at me.
"Thank you for taking me here," I began. "I really needed a pick me up."
"So did I, Keller" He said as he smiled, and slowly started leaning into me. "I also really needed this.."
The rest of his words melted away as he leaned further into me as our lips met. The kiss started off as a quiet peck, but then turned into a more passionate affair.
I opened my eyes for a brief second and saw someone at the window to the music room, and pushed Jughead away for a second.
"What's wrong?" Jughead asked as he turned around to try and see what I was looking at.
"I think that I just saw someone out there," I said a little anxiously.
He walked to the door and opened it and peered himself out of the door, as I got up and rushed toward the door to see if anybody was there.
Instead, we saw a guitar case in a nearby trashcan, with a sticker that said:
