"You know what I've been wondering."
Sybil rolled her eyes. "You can't wonder what you already know. Which is everything."
"No, no. Hear me out." Silas sat on a bench in some unnamed forest in Mystic falls. "How come you've never met any of your shadow selves? You've got, what, three?"
"One: the first one died human around the time I woke up from my sleep. Two: there's a vampire version of me that I'm not willing to meet. Her names Sutton, and she seems..." Sybil trailed off, thinking for the right word to describe her shadow self. "Impulsive. Sweet, but has a short fuse."
Silas quirked a brow, "And you aren't? You literally just killed 12 witches without thinking of the repercussions."
"Hey!-"
"Plus, you've got a short fuse to match."
He had a point. But so did she. Why on earth would she want to get to know herself? Seeing into the mind of herself? Sutton was probably everything she hated about herself and more. Sybil shook her head and turned away from her father. How casual this meetup was. Even with them being on different sides.
"You're still my little girl."
"Wait, you know," She placed a finger on her chin, "There's a human me, named Cassia. Go father her. I'm sure she's an orphan or something." Then, Sybil laughed and glanced back at her father. "I can't wait till they figure out what you look like and who your shadow self is."
"I know it won't be you who tells them."
Sybil nodded, partially annoyed with herself for feeling inclined to keep such a secret. "I love Niklaus. I love Stefan. I like their friends. But, you are my family. I still have the memories of my childhood, being hidden away in the forest. You tried sacrificing yourself to protect me. I won't forget that."
"Good. Klaus is looking for you. Ah- don't say you don't care. Staying away from him won't protect him from me. Finding the cure will." Silas stood up and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Help them find it. Report back to me."
She nodded, watching him disappear. It wasn't until she arrived at the school, even though she'd been purposely avoiding, that Caroline bombarded her with clothes and a bag of makeup. Probably holding glitter galore. Carolina's bright eyes beaming at her, her smile bigger than her large forehead.
"It's prom!" Caroline squealed, drawing out the 'o' in prom. She held up a navy blue, floor length, dress and gave her a toothy smile. When Sybil just frowned, Caroline frowned back and shook the dress. "Helloo? Best night in teen history? You have to come!"
"I don't know."
Caroline groans. "Ugh! What has you in a bad mood?"
"Nothing."
"Good, then you're coming." She shoved the dress in Sybil's arms and then the bag of makeup. "I'll be by the Salvatore house at 6 to do your hair and makeup."
Sybil stood there holding the pretty dress, and 5lbs makeup bag; The world could be ending as she knew it but Caroline will be damned if they were going to miss Prom. Behind here there was a breathy chuckle and suddenly the items were pulled from her arms. Stefan smiled at her. "Stefan."
"Caroline rope you into prom?"
"Unfortunately." She ran her fingers through her hair. "I don't understand that girl."
"Join the club." Stefan motioned at History. "Come on. We've got class."
"Ah. You understand I'm just here for the nostalgia. I haven't actually enrolled."
