I smiled as I walked into my favorite cafe with my best friend Anna.
"Hey Penny!" Ellie called out to me from the back of the little shop.
"Hey!" I replied as I sat down next to her in the booth.
I looked around the quaint cafe with interest. I hadn't been here in quite a while. The walls were covered in violet wallpaper with white flowers. The floor had light blue tiles with a hint of purple. The booths were red and the tables had a vase of yellow flowers and a small carton with salt and pepper. Oh, how I missed this place, I thought to myself.
"So," Ellie said pulling me out of my thoughts. "How are things going in school?" She asked. "Any new guys in your life?" She asked wiggling her eyebrows.
"No" I said rolling my eyes. She always wants to be in the know.
"Not yet at least" Anna said. Yeah right. I thought. Like that would ever happen.
"You always try to match us up with someone, Ellie" I said laughing. "It'll never happen"
"But I have just the person for you! It'll be perfect!" She whined
"Nope" I said.
She pouted at me as our waiter walked over to our table. After we placed our order, we talked about finals and what plans we had for the summer.
"I'm going to the beach!" Anna exclaimed.
"I'm going to Disneyland." Ellie said with a dreamy look in her eyes.
Always a kid a heart, I thought.
The waiter then brought out our food. It smelled heavenly. The puffy croissants made my mouth water and the juicy, dark red strawberry's on top gave it the perfect touch.
"So what about you Pen?" Asked Anna.
"I'm going kayaking down the Mississippi River. I'm also going sky diving. " I replied. "Oh, i'm going to try to squeeze in some extra classes to help with my writing skills too" I explained.
"I'm so jealous!" Anna said as she pouted. "I wanna be adventurous as you."
"I have a great idea!" Ellie stated. Oh no, I thought, this can't be good.
"Lets have a girls night this Friday!" She exclaimed.
"Sounds great!" Replied Anna.
They looked expectantly at me. "Ugh." I sighed. "Fine"
They squealed like little ten year old's and started making all sorts of plans for the night. What have I gotten myself into?
