Kruy, a peaceful planet that was once home to the Kruyans. The Kruyans were a group of species that bore human appearance, with plant-like features and had the power to control nature. Creating beautiful plants that no one has ever seen even ones that were thought to be extinct. With these powers, they created a variety of weapons, armies and animals to protect them. But, this made them an easy target to Zarkon and the Galra to invade their home. All the citizens were either killed or taken prisoner and force them to use their powers to make weapons or soldiers for the Galra. They also captured their king and queen, Jarak and Thana, along with their children, Princes' Kistor and Drystan and only daughter Princess Lyra.
The queen however, was able to escape the prison she was held in and rescued some of her citizens and children. She did not return to help the king and left him there to die, causing the king to be in disbelief of his wife's actions. Sometime later, another prisoner arrived and was placed in the king's cell. This prisoner turned out to be a human female, named Claire Jacquin.
She was captured by Zarkon when she was sent on a mission by the Galaxy Garrison to look for samples if other life existed in another planet right near Kerberos. For a while, Jarak and Claire had maintained a good friendship until they both had fallen in love. Eventually, Claire becomes pregnant with Jarak's child, a part-human and part-Kruyan baby.
Soon after, Jarak was taken away to battle in the arena when Claire was only 3 months into her pregnancy. She later received the news that he does not survive the fight, leading Claire to raise her baby on her own from then on. Commander Sendak knew about her pregnancy, so he decided to let her live to raise her child.
4 years have passed and Claire's daughter, Iris, was now born and being raised inside one of Zarkon's prison ship. It was hard to raise a child in a prison ship, knowing that Claire will never get the chance to show her baby what her home planet is like and be able to grow up like a normal child. 2 Galra guards then came in to take away Claire into the arena for the next fight.
"W-What's going on?"
"You have been selected to fight in the next battle in the arena....human."
"What...no, please, I can't go- No please no, let me go, my baby needs me, she can't be by herself!"
She tries to escape from their grip as she was being taken away. Commander Sendak comes inside the prison cell and sees Claire struggling, but his eyes lay on the little girl, who was confused on what's happening,
"Mama....?"
Sendak then looks back at Claire, and lets out a smirk,
"Take her away, and make sure she never returns."
Claire's eyes widen and was now struggling more,
"NO, LEAVE HER ALONE YOU MONSTER! DON'T YOU DARE LAY A FINGER ON MY LITTLE GIRL!!"
Claire calls out Iris's name one more time before her voice can no longer be heard. Sendak starts to walk up to the child, as he is smiling,
"So...looks like King Jarak left us a little gift."
Iris was then taken over by fear, as she begins to walk backwards, leading to the wall.
"M-Mama...help me."
"You won't be able to see your mother again child...you belong to Lord Zarkon now."
She calls out to her mother once again, as she begins to cry. While trying to get away from the tall Galra in front of her that was reaching out to her.
The torturing, that was the worst part for her everyday. She would get nightmares every night, remembering all that has happened to her. Her mother was gone, her innocence was corrupted by her tormenters, and her life was destroyed. What did she do to deserve this? Why was she the only one who was tortured the most out of all the prisoners?
"Get up you pathetic wimp! You want to end up dead just like your mother?!"
Iris grabs her weapon again and tries to stand up, but weakness was all she felt due to poor malnutrition. She felt like she couldn't handle anymore of this and might end up dead the next minute. A sharp pain hits her back and lets out a scream. She whimpers and cries out to not think about the pain. Iris is stricked again and screams more,
"Keep screaming and you'll receive more pain than ever."
A hooded woman-figure says to her. Iris finally gets up on her feet, but whimpers. The woman smirks as she does and then she creates an illusion of a monster-like creature with her magic. Iris grips her weapon to prepare for the incoming attack. The creature growls and rushes towards her.
She swings her weapon at it, hitting it's head, making it fall to the floor. Then she hits it right in the jaw when it was about to take a bite out of her head. But she misses as she was going to strike it again and the creature hits her weapon away with it's paw, throwing it straight to the wall. Iris tries to run away but the monster was catching up to her. She screams when it was about to attack her but then a green light shines over her hands and vines appeared out from them to strike the beast. The creature growls and tries to rip apart the vines that kept on multiplying.
The vines pierced the beast, killing it, causing a smirk to appear on the woman's face. Iris is shunned with shocked and looks around, he eyes landing to 2 guards. The green light shines from her hands creating more vines and they take a hold of one of them, ripping his arm off. The hooded woman snarls and appears in the arena and uses her magic to burn all the vines and save the guard. She lifts Iris in the air and brings her face-to-face with her.
"....You must be joking, aren't you? Are you trying to repeal against the emperor...Do you think you can just now try to escape now that you awoken your powers?!"
"...S..Sorry.."
"You should be, you're nothing but a disgusting creation.."
The woman throws her across the room, causing her to hit her head. Iris gets knocked out from the pressure of the injury on her head as the woman walks up to her unconscious body, looking at her,
"Shocking that she's Jarak's child, but born from a human mother...what would Lord Zarkon want from her exactly?"
She then carries her back to her prison cell, where she was born. The woman then leaves the prison ship and goes to visit the king,
"Your highness, I've finished training the child for today."
"..What are the results in her combat?"
"She was finally able to defeat the beast, and has awoken her Kruyan powers...she tried to escape however, but she failed."
"Then make sure you give her more training, but this time make sure it'll make her have more control of her powers."
"Sire, I must ask.....why must you waste your time to train this child?"
"Because Haggar, not only is she the daughter of Jarak, but her mother is human. She is the first ever known hybrid with Kruyan DNA combined with human DNA as well. They are known to be a powerful species...and I want to see what she is capable of handling. If she can survive all the training we are giving her.....she'll be the most unstoppable creature we've created to help us get our hands on Voltron."
