The car ride to school with Taehyung could only be described as eventful. He wasn't half bad if a driver, disregarding the amount of times he nearly swerved into the other lane and clipped corners. He managed to navigate safely through the school gates and park without doing any damage to anyone, thing, or the car itself. We get out and walk inside together. The rest of Bangtan are waiting for us at our lockers, as is Yuri. I search for Jungkook. He stands at the back of the group, hiding behind Namjoon. He looks up at me and smiles weakly, his gaze flickering between me and Taehyung before returning to the floor. We all begin to walk to class and Jungkook hangs back a little. I wait for the others to walk on a bit before grabbing his hand. He jumps and looks up at me. I pull his jacket out of my bag and hold it out to him. He looks down at it then back up at me, the ghost of a smile barely visible on his face. Now that I am closer I see how tired he is. He raises a hesitant arm and for a moment I think he is going to take his jacket back, but instead he hugs me tightly. He buries his face in my shoulder. I hug him back.
"Keep it." I hear him say. "Just remember that I love you when you wear it."
I nod into his chest and he pulls away. We catch up to the others silently, luckily none of them had realized we had stopped. Suddenly Yoongi turns round to me."Hey babe, we're thinking of going to mine after school today, you wanna come?" he says smirking slightly, but I'm not sure at what. I am not the only one taken aback by his use of the nickname in public, and then other boys eye us questioningly. Taehyung doesnt seem to have noticed and I let out a breath I don't remember holding. Jungkook watches me nervously. I am about to enthusiastically agree when I remember.
"Ah, I can't today, I need to resolve something." I say, my eyes flickering to Jungkook and I see his expression change to relief. Did he think I'd cancel on him? Yoongi's eyes travel to Jungkook as well, before coming back to me.
"Ohh I see. Maybe another time then. Good luck babe." he says in a lower voice, leaning closer and almost whispering it in my ear. He winks jokingly at me as he pulls away.Classes pass agonisingly slow, although I do have the boys and Yuri to entertain me. However by the fourth period, English, all of them have joined me in a nap, their heads rested on their arms in the table.
The bell finally rings to signal the start of lunch, and I leave the room quickly as to not be called back by Mrs. Walker about my 'failing reading record'. I lean against the wall outside the classroom door and wait for the others to file out.We walk together to the canteen, Jungkook falling behind again as Taehyung and Jimin fall into step beside me. I glance over my shoulder at him and he holds my gaze quickly before turning his eyes to the floor.
I don't eat much for lunch, as I am not particularly hungry, and watch instead as the seven boys gorge themselves on pizza and crisps.
We decide to spend the rest of lunch on the roof again, and this time I am careful not to go near the edge when Taehyung is within 6 feet of me. Even so, the rest of Bangtan keep a subtle, watchful eye on me as I walk around. I sit on a bench and look out on to the city. The school isn't a very tall building, but it still rises higher than the houses dotted up and down the street. A few miles behind them, in the heart of the city, skyscrapers Tower far above everything else.
I feel someone sit beside me and glance across to see Taehyung surveying the landscape just as I had been only moments ago."I think I still prefer Daegu." he admits out of the blue. "Busan is pretty though."
I smile but stay relitavely quiet, my leg bouncing nervously as I am very aware of the fact that Jungkook, Jimin and Yoongi are watching us carefully."Did you sleep ok last night? I forgot to ask.." he says, turning to me. I nod quickly and smile again to reassure him. He nods. I know he notices my silence, so I try to find something to start a conversation.
"Do you know what's up with Jungkook?" I ask, even though I know the answer, and making sure to lower my voice significantly so Jungkook doesn't overhear. Taehyung shrugs.
"He's still a kid. He runs off sometimes on his 'spontaneous adventures'." he says. Not quite the answer I was expecting, but I nod anyways.
The bell rings again and we all begin to troop down the stairs towards the our next class.
The rest of the day passes slowly, and by the time the last bell finally sounds I have cramp in my leg from bouncing it continuously.
I'm not sure why I feel so nervous.Taehyung offers to drive me home, and I accept greatfully. He pulls up infront of my house, but locks the car door when I attempt to get out.
"Yah!" I chuckle, turning around to him.
"I need my payment, Jagiya." he says, grinning then closing his eyes and puckering his lips dramatically. I laugh again and kiss him softly. He smiles as I pull away and unlocks the car door. I get out and watch him drive away.I open my front door to see my little brothers standing right behind it.
"Was that Taehyung?" Taemin asks hurriedly. I nod and push past them. Half way up the stairs I hear one of them call "OoooOoo." followed by giggling. I ignore them and quickly change.
