Chapter three_ who made dinner

I Woke up early the next day... Not like I slept much last night tho. I washed my face put on some clothes did my hair into my usual messy bun and went downstairs. I had a few pancakes for breakfast, grabbed a snack for lunch and headed for school.  "howdy do bff of all time? " Kaylee said as I approached her.  " you wouldn't believe what dad told me last night. " I told her as we approached our lockers. "what'd he say? " she asked her voice full of concern. "he said, he was getting a divorce " I said inwardly puking at the word divorce.  "no kidding...  I didn't think he would get this crazy... No office " she said with as much concern.  " none taken. Well enough about my sappy life, let's head on to class. " I said as I began moving to class.

School was boring for me cos I kept imagining myself moving to Greenland buying a bunch of cats and living without a mom,  and my dad was a dolphin.

Nice comeback if you ask me.

The bell rang and I got up and left for the cafeteria without Kaylee. Actually to be honest, I haven't seen her since homeroom. But,  I'm pretty sure I'll run into her in the cafeteria.  " howdy oh female whom I haven't seen since homeroom" she chirped as I sat at our usual table.

Told you she'd turn up

" hey,  and where have you been? " I asked laying out my snacks on the table.  " around the country.... Look who brought her own snacks. " she said taking a bite out of her burger.  " well,  what can I say...  Its a food thing. " I said hungrily biting chocolate bar.

Just so you know,  I'm legally married to chocolate. Its my biggest addiction.

" yeah,  did I tell you about this new dude I met at the store last night? " she said taking a sip of juice. " nope.  Describe him. In details please. "  " His name is Dylan... He's about 16..  And He's super hot.  I think I like him already. " she sang so melodiously. If that's even a word.  " well then,  I guess some one's found cupids missing arrow. " I said sarcastically but earning a blush.  " don't worry, you'll meet your prince charming one day. " she said and we both laughed.

Back home,  I met mom in the kitchen for the first time in a really long while. "hey mom...  What's the ups? "

Did I mention that my mom and I are bffs when she's not drunk?
No?
Well we are

"hey Nadia, how was school today? " "it was pretty cool.  Kaylee and I had the best lunch break in a while " " well that's a first. Wanna help me make dinner? " "that shouldn't even be a question. "

We spent about an hour making Mac n cheese,chicken  casserole and some punch. Food. Food. Food.

Dad came home some time later and mom was upstairs. Naturally, I'd run up and hug him, but since he" sunk my ship" (if you know what I mean ) that's not happening.  " hey dad! " I called out from my seat on the sofa not even turning my attention from the TV. " hey... How bout giving dad a hug eh... "  after a pause he said " so uh... Who made dinner? " " mom and I did. " I said finally facing him.  Then,  and only then, mom came down the stairs in a pink transparent lace night dress. "Jonas,  is that you? " mom said coming down slowly.

She must've planned this.

".. Yeah. " dad said,  his eyes trailing up and down mom's body.  "since we're all here,  let's have dinner. " I said,  breaking the unbearable silence. " yeah that's probably best " dad said as if waking up from a fictional fantasy dream. 

I set the table the good-ol-fashioned way, you know, three plates, three chairs and what not.  We sat down and ate,  though I ate more than any one else. I could see my dads eyes admire my mom with so much list that I think we know what happens after here.

My parents didn't talk much but seeing them together was enough to make my day.
