The sky was on fire, the clouds were peaking only behind the sun in the sky horizon. Nick arrives as Ashley was still in his arms. Skillet and Ash's parent were sitting on the front porch. They were talking, "So.....I think this is a good idea....I wanna take Ashley here for her birthday..." Skillet pulls out a paper a little bent on the edges from being crushed in his back pocket, it was a nice flyer. Very detailed with shells, birds, and a pic of a sunset smack in the middle. The mother chokes up, "That's Florida....but wait how did you know about our daughter's birthday and how she loves this place?" Skillet smirks, "As I said before....her and I have known each other for years. She always told me countless times that Florida was the one place she always wanted to go to. I know money is scarce for you guys...but my parents have the money and I talked about it with them earlier today. My family has a beautiful condo down their, beach is right across the street and plus its perfectly safe. I want this to be special for her...." The father eyes Skillet with his hands crossed, How much....do you love my daughter?" A lump was formed in the back of the shy vampire's throat, "Sir.....I love her.....since the day we met....she means the world to me...to the moon and back. I won't loose her....I do anything to make her happy. Any ups and downs her and I will face them together, we'll share laughs and tears, good and bad, anything..." Tears sting his eyes through his bandana. The mother smiles and so does the father, "It's....ironic that Ash's birthday is on the last day of school.....how will you surprise her?" Skillet smiles, "I'll....think about it..." Not too long after Nick arrives with Ash asleep so safe and sound. Skillet stares at her and his eyes change once more through his bandana. "Sir....hi I'm Nick, Skillet's friend.....Ashley fell asleep and missed the bus....I took her home..." He carries her over to her father as he scoops her up like nurturing an infant. "You boys.....thank you.....so very much...." They walk inside leaving Skillet and Nick out alone. Using their vamp speed they sprint far into the thick trees, "So.....what were you talking about with Ash's parents?" Skillet smiles and talks Nick's ear off for hours...

"Wow....so how are you gonna surprise her Skillet?" Skillet looks down, "I know how......its my bandana..." Nick tilts his head confuzzled, "What..?" Skillet takes it off revealing his eyes black, not red. Nick gasps, "H...how is this..." "Nick.....Ash makes me calm....I love her so much that she puts me in a safe, love, warming thought....her voice...her laugh....her smiles....her angelic hair....her eyes....everytime I see her....my eyes aren't red.....but she only sees me with my bandana off...." Nick listens to everything taking it all in, "So....that means..." "Yes, this whole time....Ash...the one I love...my best friend....only knows me if my bandana is off...but with it on....she sees me in fear because I had my bandana on the day I....attacked her...in the gym....with this on....she doesn't see the best friend she knows..." It didn't take long after for Nick to place a hand on his shoulder smiling, "Hey....we are vamp buddies....we stick together...I'm your best friend....and you know what I think you should do? Reveal her the real you...." Skillet smiles then gulps..."You mean...I should...you know..." "Reveal to her not only who you are behind that mask...but tell her your a vampire...

The next day Ash awoke again feeling like she was in a painless dream....so relaxed. Her back didn't even ache as she climbs out of bed. The daily morning routine goes on as after Ashley looks all showered and dressed grabbing her backpack and a snack. With her kissing her parents cheeks she smiles, "Love you two.." Her mom raises an eyebrow, "Your all extra happy...why so dear?" Ashley turns around smiling, "Today just feels like a good day...besides...a smile helps me feel great.." Walking out the door as she slips her earbuds in. The morning was super beautiful. The crisp breeze fills the atmosphere with delight. Not a single bully in sight for Ash. Life was great so far until a kid very skinny with a short cut, blond hair. His pants were very baggy and his music was so loud you can hear the inappropriate language in it. This was Justin, the school bully. When I say school bully I mean this kid has done some pretty messed up stuff. Last year he duck taped three freshmen to the flag pole just because they didn't wanna do his homework for him. Poor kids...they didn't even see it coming, and they didn't knew Justin. He walks up behind Ash listening to her singing, to him it sounds like trash but to everyone else its so angelic. Thats the problem....Justin hates everyone, even his family. His footsteps were invisible to Ash since she walked and danced laughing and smiling to the music. Justin decides to take it cliche, carefully he kneels down grabbing a rock then throws it at Ash. It hits the back of her jacket but it barely even hurt. It did caught her attention. "Hm? Huh who threw a rock at me?" Justin laughs as his arms were crossed tapping his foot and smirking, "Hey shorty! Wanna have some fun." Ashley ignores then continues walking. Justin keeps up with her, "Awww come on shorty were cool right?" He playfully punches her arm, a disgusted look appeared on her face. She sucker punched his chest as he groans leaning down, "Look, I'm having a good day so leave me alone, stop calling me shorty and don't touch me." Justin rages, "You shouldn't of hit me you little brat!" Skillet was not too far until he immediately sees Ash and Justin. Rage fills inside of him but he kept his composure hiding behind a maple tree.

Justin laughs, "You think hitting my arm is gonna make me leave? Pathetic." Rage fills Skillet more as his vamp sharp claws dug into the tree deeply. Under his breathe he whispers, "No one...touches my love..." Ash backed away, "Please...just leave.." Now her voice was all hurt and scared. Justin smirks, "So what....no one to help you...not even your cute little friend Skillet..." Ash gasps with tears in her eyes as Justin sucker punches her in the cheek. She collapsed. Red....anger....tears......darkness all surrounds Skillet. His fangs out and sharp like needles, "You....dare touch her...hurt her..." Storming at Justin he flings the skinny bully back into a tree. Justin was startled as he runs away. Skillet then picks up Ash. He blushes then tears up at her cheek. Quickly she awakes then whimpers seeing Sean. "Y...you....leave me please...." She tries to run as Sean grabs her and takes her to the park, "Just let me explain myself to you....please...." She squirms, "Give me one good dang reason why I shouldn't report you to the principles office after what you did to me!?" Sean screams at her, "Because I know you Ashley!" Then it was silent as tears then roll down Ash's cheeks. Skillet immediately sees her sob, "A...Ash I...I'm so sorry I..." With force she pulls out of his grip and runs into the forest to the tree.
