The Friends We Used To Be

         10th Grade

  It was mid-December, when Emily told Kailey and Maci that an old friend of theirs was coming back to their school. "Kailey, you remember, Alec, right?" I nodded. Alec wasn't very appealing to me but I knew Emily had always had a "sort-of" crush on him. I didn't really know if Mac (Maci's nickname) remembered him; she didn't go here long enough to actually know him. 

   "I ain't seen him since like, 5th grade. When's he comin' back?" I asked curiously. Alec was a pretty cool person I guess you could say. 

    "If they get a house in time, they'll probably be here in February. If not then, maybe March."  We walked to our separate lockers and grabbed our stuff, then started going to our classes.

       March

  Me, Maci, and Emily were at out usual spot in the courtyard before the first bell. "Guess who's supposed to be coming to school today?" Emily asked with a smile on her face.

  "Hmm. Lemme guess. Alec?" I grinned and looked over a Mac who didn't seem very interested or focused at all. Em looked at me and then at Maci. "What's wrong Mac?" She asked.

  Maci jumped and looked over at us, "Huh?" We laughed at her small attention span and her inability to stay focused. 

  "Guess who's supposed to be coming today?" I repeated for Emily. Maci knew as soon as she looked over at Emily and saw the smile on her face. She elbowed Emily in the side and laughed.

   It was during lunch when Emily and I finally got to talk to Maci after the first bell. Me and Emily had to walk all the way from the field house all the way to the other side of school campus. We always met with Maci in the courtyard before walking to lunch. We had to wait for Maci because she was running late, she also had to come from one side of the school to another to get to lunch.

  When she finally showed up she said, "Is he supposed to being coming or not?" Then she started laughing at what she said. Me and Emily just looked at her because we didn't understand what she was laughing at

  "What are you laughing at?" I asked for both me and Emily. She was still laughing but she still managed to look up at us both.

   "I said cum." She kept laughing and we laughed at her not with her. We finally stopped laughing when we got into the lunch line and this guy that Maci thought was ""sexy"" stood behind us. His name is Caleb, he's really tall, has blond hair and braces. But the braces don't make him look bad.. but not good either. She slightly looked back and up at him and laughed a little. He didn't seem to notice.

   "Is Alec supposed to be coming today like his mom said.. or?" I was just making sure because Emily was really looking forward to seeing him today. She shrugged.

  "Maybe he's coming later?" Maci suggested. She had met Alec a couple of weekends ago and she had told me that she kinda liked him, so I figured she was trying to make it not so obvious that she wanted him here too.

   "I don't think he's gonna come a couple of hours before school's over, I mean, what's the point in that?" I asked and if you thought about it, it wouldn't really make since to come during lunch. "Maybe he'll come tomorrow?" Emily nodded, "Probably."

    The next day, in second period, Alec showed up. Most people already knew who he was. He wasn't in my class but one of my other friends, other than Emily and Maci, had told me she saw him in the band room with the other students in Music. I nodded and asked if I could use the restroom to make sure that she knew it was actually him. 

    I walked past the band room and looked into the window on the door and saw him sitting beside a few other people. I grinned because I knew that Emily would be excited to know that he was here.

     During 5th period, one of the classes that i have with Emily, I said, "Guess whose hereee.

She looked at me with a big smile on her face, "I know! I saw him earlier!" She was laughing and grinning and I laughed at her. 

     After History was over Emily and I walked to where we met Maci and waited for a couple minutes. "Where is she? She's usually always here before us." Em shrugged and looked over at the parking lot where a bunch of kids took a shortcut to lunch. 

  "Found her.." Emily said a little upset. I looked over at where she was looking and saw Maci walking with Alec. Mac knew how much Emily liked him, but while they were walking she was all over him. I nudged Emily's arm, "Don't worry about it. I'll talk to her."

   When we got to lunch, we took our pizza and sat our normal table. Emily didn't say anything to Maci but she was talking, a lot, to Alec. I grinned at how mushy she was when she talked to him.

  Maci just stared at Emily as she talked to Alec, and that's when I knew, it was gonna be the Jordan and Andrew situation all over again.

---- Jordan and Andrew; Sabotage----

---- The ""Jordan and Andrew situation"" happened last year. Maci and Jordan were bestfriends. They were really close. Until Jordan dated the guy Maci practically loved. Mac knew that Andrew didn't want her; she thought he did, but knew.. he didn't. Maci, Andrew and I went to the same church and a van would come to pick us up every Wednesday. Well.. one church day, while Jordan and Andrew were dating, me, Mac, and Andrew all sat in the very back of the van. Maci was trying to hold Andrew's hand and sit on his lap. She was all over him. He told her to stop, but she wouldn't. The next day at school, Jordan found out about what had happened on the van the night before. She continuously  yelled at Maci and she broke up with Andrew. Maci and Jordan never spoke to each other again, and still haven't to this day.----
