The trio opened up the wooden door, the only thing that didn't look like it was going to break. The door loudly creaked open, and the three peeked inside. The castle was completely hollow. The kids expected the interior to be decorated lavishly, but were only greeted by a rug that The Queen was laying on, and a measly lamp, that probably ran on magic. Or batteries. Probably batteries. "Oh, it's you three. You can come in," Speckton, Grayson, and Lucy walked down the long hallway to the gigantic circular room, the only room, where The Queen and her companions sat. Now that Lucy was closer, she could see that The Queen was... "A dragon!" she whispered in suppressed glee. The Queen was, yes, a dragon. She had silvery white scales, and horns that pointed away from her face sat on the side of her face. She didn't appear to have wings, only stubs. They were probably sliced off, like her tail. With a polar opposite tone to Lucy's, she breathed, "I'm just a fraction of what I used to be. Full of energy, I was. Ready for a challenge. Now, I'm just a sad, old lump," Speckton said, "So, what's the plan? With the kids?" The Queen looked startled, and hoarsely said, "Right!" "First, what's your real name?" Asked Lucy. The Queen seemed distant. "Oh, but it's hard to pronounce.." She paused for a second. "But, if you must, it's Kiewitzch," Grayson managed to say, "How do you even begin to pronounce that!" after an awkward moment of silence. Kiew.. The Queen managed to sigh even deeper. "Alright, back on track," Speckton said, with a hint of annoyance to his voice. "How do we know that the neons are attacking us soon?" The first assistant was a short, white cat, with a dress that sort of looked like a kimono, but shorter, length wise. "We have been eavesdropping on them for a while meow, and assorted neons say that they're planning an attack soon. That's what we hear from the grates, though. We can't confirm when or where they're going to attack," she said. "How powerful are they?" asked Lucy. "We're talkin' rainbow laser beams and flaming swords," exclaimed the other helper. Assistant 2 was a purple cat, with platinum gold hair, wearing he same dress as 1. Grayson caught the white cat giving a jealous glance at the purple cat. I'm fairly sure it was because she didn't have any hair to call her own. "Only in the higher ranks do they have some powers. The majority are just commoners, no powers," The Queen weakly snapped. "Um... are we just killing everyone? 'Cause I don't want to do that," Lucy gulped. "No, no. You just have to defeat the queen," Wait, should I put that in italics? Nah. "Why didn't you tell us that the first time?" Grayson asked. The Queen grunted, and scrunched up her body. "Urgh.. my time is short. The egg is over there, to your right. When she hatches, she will take my place," The white cat explained, "The eggs that queens lay are always female. No kings. Ever," "Alright, anything else to explain?" Speckton asked. The Queen's eyes darted from Lucy to Grayson. "I need to give you the strength to defeat the neon's queen. What's the spell again?" The Queen whispered, getting quieter by the second. "You gotta move your finger like this!" The purple cat shouted excitedly. She began to draw some sort of figure 8 in the air, then some shapes, and finally, she pointed at both children. The white cat had pushed Grayson and Lucy so close, their arms touched. The Queen had a mix between a painful and doubtful look on her face. Shakily, her finger traced the figure 8, and.. stopped. The Queen mumbled, "Wait- before I go-" Suddenly, The Queen shattered like a vase being dropped. Chunks of her magnificence fell, others skidded across the floor. Dust spread all over the castle, as if there wasn't enough dust. Grayson remembered The Queen saying that she was a sad lump. Now, she looked like a dropped.. breakable object. Not sure what else to compare it to. The purple cat screamed, "No! I didn't expect her to break just yet! Oh, I knew she was gonna break, but I didn't think-" The white cat put a hand on her back and said, "It's okay. It was going to happen anyway. What matters is that the children got infused with the powers, correct..?" Speckton and the cats turned to face the kids. "Um... does this count?" Lucy mumbled as she showed them the little ball of fire on her fingertip. "No, it didn't woooooooork!" The purple cat cried. The white one shouted, "Yes, it did work! Are you blind? We just need to up their strength," Grayson whispered in Lucy's ear, "Is it just me, or is this just getting weirder and weirder?" Lucy replied, "More like more awkward," Speckton just stood there in shock. "Well.. now that that was over, I can fully introduce myself. I'm Catherine. That's Kristie," The white cat, Catherine, explained. Kristie shook hands with the others, wiping tears off her cheeks. Catherine's eyes just looked watery. Lucy glanced at the broken queen on the floor, and then at the egg. Or the lack of the egg. "Wait, where did the egg go?" Lucy shouted. The group gasped, as they ran over to the pillar, where the egg was supposed to be. It was supposed to be in a nice, fancy, glass case, but the egg was gone. Then, they looked down. A tunnel.
