Today’s the first day I’ve been outside my room. It’s been five days since the last time. I haven’t been on my feet in even longer than that so I’m a little shaky when I get out of bed. Maeve helps me.

I leave the small, wooden shack that I’ve been in and I find that she was right. It was winter. The air stings me in places I had forgotten about and my bare feet got lost in a wet, cold substance Maeve called snow. After a bit of walking we find two more people, two boys. Two girls and two boys now. I say there’s enough for two squads and ask if we’re going to split up. Maeve smiles and I know I’ve said something right. I must remember squads.

We don’t split up. The boys introduce themselves as Mark and Aaron. Maeve says Mark might help me remember who she is, but I don’t know about that. He doesn’t say much. He doesn’t say much but he acts like he knows me, but I’ve never seen him before in my life. Jason told me to watch out for people like him but Mark seems nice enough so I let it go.
