Tyler
After a crappy day of school I was on my way home. Sometimes I wish I actually liked going home. But no it was as brutal there as school. My life sucks. Lets just put it at that. I walk fast because I dare not come home late.
Rule #4 Never come home late.
If I broke that rule there would be consequences, same with any rule I break. At the start of a new street I could see the big house just coming up. The one where that boy was. I started to think about my homework, an English assignment. It was an essay on a book any book. But the only books I have read were either text books or The Bible. I wasn't aloud to read anything else. I put my hands in my pockets and looked down. All mixed up in my thoughts I bumped into someone.
"Sorry." I mumbled not looking up.
"Don't be a stopped you on purpose." a voice said with a chuckle. A voice that sounded wholesome. I looked up to meet a pair of brown eyes. Brown eyes and drowsy eyes connect. I studied his face. He looks familiar. I looked over to his hair. Messy tufts of soft pink hair scattered across his head. This was the boy I saw earlier. I gave him a confused look.
"I saw you earlier in the morning, were you going to school?" he asked. I stayed quiet and nodded. He held out his hand for me to shake but I was to scared to take it.
"Well my name is Josh, Josh Dun." he smiled and took his hand back.
"I'm Tyler." I said weakly. My mouth hurt like hell. He began to look me up and down, boy was I uncomfortable.
"Do you go to Saint Lewis High or something." he asked. I shyly nodded. "Oh cool! I'm gonna start going there, we could be buddies!"
"Buddies." I whispered. I smiled at the thought.
"JOSH! COME HERE I NEED HELP WITH THE SOFA!" a woman called out. We both looked over to the house and then at each other.
"Welp I guess this is goodbye, see you later!" he waved and a gave a faint smile before turning to walk. I turned back to see him jog up to his house. I turned and started on my way again.
I walked through the door thinking about what he said. Buddies. Could I really have a friend. Again my thoughts were interrupt as I was slammed into the wall. It took me by surprise. I opened my eyes to see a well built man with a buzz cut and a dirty white t-shirt. He had a scratchy-looking beard and the breath of a cheap liquor store. It was my uncle.
"WHERE WERE YOU BOY!" he shouted at me spit flying in my face. His body weight was against my skinny frame. I was choking and I couldn't say anything.
"YOUR FIVE MINUTES LATE, NOW I'M GONNA ASK YOU AGAIN, WHERE WERE YOU BOY!'' his voice was ringing in my ear.
"I...I...got stopped...o..on m..my way he..he..here." I managed to get out. With out any warning he punched my face. My mouth already hurt but now it hurts like crazy. He did it again. Then he pushed me down to the floor and started to kick my stomach. I tried to ball myself up but that got him even more angry. He eventually stopped and started to drag me. I knew where we were going. We were going to the monster closet.
He opened up the closet and threw me in there. He lit candle and put it on the floor. Then he threw a Bible at me.
"These past few days you have been misbehaving, now read this entire thing, no food for you tonight."he bellowed. "I can't have a sinner like you walking around here not being punished.". I looked at him as he slammed the door shut. I heard the lock click and I started to cry. I hated it in here.
Fear of my uncle checking up on me got me to pick up the Bible and start reading it. After a while the candle started to burn out. NO NO NO NO please no darkness. Finally the candle went out. My skin went cold and my heart started racing. I felt cold slimy hands on my skin. Exploring my body. I started to cry again. Their voices crowded me.
"Tyler........Tyler" they whispered menacingly. For the rest of the night I sunbathed in the dark with monsters.
