VALERIE GOT THERE RIGHT as Simon threw Raphael into a truck and speeding off. She walked towards Raphael and helped him as Clary and Jace approach them. "I swear, if that kid ruins one more jacket—"

"Where is he?" Clary demands.

"He'll be back." Raphael glances at Valerie who was glaring at Clary.

"You just let him go?" Valerie rolls her eyes at Jace. He doesn't like Simon so she doesn't know why he's here. "You said you'd look after him."

"We can't do that until he's ready." Valerie growls and the two Shadowhunters glance at her.

"What does that even mean?" Clary furrows her eyebrows.

"It means he's where everybody goes when this happens. His own personal hell." Valerie looks down when she mentions this. She remembers her personal hell after she was turned into a Werewolf, then a vampire.

"I—I did this. I put him there." Clary cries.

Raphael shrugs. "If it helps, he doesn't even remember it was you. Those first minutes.... a complete blank."

"But I have to tell him the truth."

Raphael slightly grins. "Once you rein him in, he'll be walking, talking proof to the Clave that Camille broke the Accords. In fact, as a new leader—"

"Okay, just stop it!" Clary stars to stammer. "I don't care about your vampire politics! We have to find Simon."

"We will." Jace assures.

"He's out there, he's alone.... scared—"

Valerie cuts Clary off. "He's hungry. If he gets one drop of blood right now, he will become addicted and kill a person."

Raphael nods his head in agreement. "Give us a call when he turns up. He'll need our help."

"I think we've had just about enough of your guys help." Jace mumbles but Valerie heard.

Valerie growls. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were a vampire." Raphael grabs Valerie's hand and pulls her away.

Valerie was at a local bar with Andromeda when she got a call from Izzy. "Hello?"
