The true colors

~Derek's POV~

"What did she say? How did she say it? How was her expression when she said it?" Kai couldn't lay still on the healing bed when I told him that Skyler finally talked to me. "You sound like a girl man" I sight, "shut up, you're the girl!" he said and finally laid down properly. The healing beds was making the healing on injuries go way faster than normal, lucky for us,  we're friends with some witches. 

"She said that she wasn't healthy for us, that she changed too much that she isn't the same girl anymore. That it is for the best that we don't talk" I told  him what happened after he passed out and what she did. I tried to tell him all the details so it was easier to explain that from my side,  she was the same.

"It seems to me that she acted like she did for fifteen years ago, remember? On your guys fifth birthday" Kai tried to sit up in hope that I would fly away again in my thoughts but I pushed him back down. "When that giant Vipera attacked us. She jumped to face it just to save us, which was her first time she used the avatar power!" Our parents came running to us and just in time to see Skyler fly up in the air and succeeded to drown the vipera and then freeze it. All the adults was shocked by the scene but it was Meirin and Arrhenius who first understood what she had to bee.

 I remembered they took her inside, away from the party to test her and see if it was true. "Yeah, I'll never forget that day!" Kai sight, he hated snakes and to be attacked by a Vipera that's almost thirteen feet long and the most toxic creature on the planet Cahir. "Tell me again who was going to be the best of the best warrior? Are you afraid of a little snake?" I said teasing him. I could see the furious grew inside of him, "a little snake?! IT's at least..." he started screaming and was soon interrupted by the nurse, a normally nice witch but it was really late and we had woken her up. "Okay boys time to sleep!! You leave, he'll be released tomorrow after lunch so you will have to wait until then. So out!" she screamed and opened the door with a big force.

 Kai hid his face under the sheet and refused to look at her, a rumor in school was, if you ever pissed of the nurse she can turn you to stone by looking in your eyes. I said good night to Kai who answered by waving underneath the sheet. The door slammed shut behind me and I started walking to my apartment. The school was empty and only a few lamps lightened up the corridors. It was a huge school looking more like a fortress then a school.

"Why are you up so late son?" a husky voice came from the dark and when I turned to the voice Arrhenius came out from the shadows. "I was talking to Kai sir. I forgot about the time" I told him and he waved to me to follow him. "Follow me Derek, I hope you're not worried for your friend. Ms. Sanita is the best" he said as we walked up on the stairs to the west tower. "Yes sir" I answered him, wondering what he had I mind. 

"I come up here every night to think, it helps me clear my head standing here on the top and look out on the nature" we stood near the edge of the tower. I stared out over the forest and the trees that danced in the moon light. I had never been here before, students aren't allowed to be on the top of the towers. 

"This night was extra special, I witnessed the source of the nature and the soul for all the magic in our universe" he looked on the sky and I followed his eyes but couldn't see anything else then stars and a few clouds. "Not up there son, its right underneath us, the edge of the forest over there" he said and pointed down to the ground. At first I couldn't see a thing, but when a piece of the ground rose and was smashed into pieces I saw Skyler training. 

"What do you know about the avatar Derek?" he asked me, "just that the Avatar possesses the power of the four elements and it's said that the Avatar is the protector for every magical creature" I answered him. He nodded, sat down and let his legs dingle over the edge, "Exactly, but not only the protector. After hundreds of years watching over the universe the creator of this universe knew that he couldn't stay for much longer, but he also knew that the universe wouldn't survive without him or his power. He needed to give the universe a heart. If the heart beats the whole body lives. The creator gave the power to those he found most suitable to handle this kind of power. He gave it to the king of the planet of warrior, he told the king that if the heart dies the whole universe would collapse. The king promised to make sure that it would be safe. He managed to do so and after the creator disappeared and the power was down on a planet the magical power spread out more through the planets. Magic was shown and witches, creatures started to be born or created. The king got six kids, two boys and four girls he noticed that the power could be passed down. That's how the power would always exist, but it was always passed down to those who already had the ability to handle powers, the witches. So the power was only passed down to the women. The kings four daughters was all avatars but only the eldest daughter could pass it on to her kids." As he told me I watched Skyler using the air to fly around the dragon she seemed to have become friends with, she was laughing.
