Hidden Shadows

II.THE HOUSE

The whole house is like out of time. There is no TV no radio no music, basically no entertainment, an ils style country house. the house was full of statues of anything. Statues of saints in the altar, statues of russian dolls in a corner, statues of glass figurine. It's very creepy living there, And you can notice a lot of pictures hanging in the wall from the old relatives back in the 1800s. Dear bones hanging in the wall, the house itself is made out of hard wood and you expect that there is an old man or lady living there. Outside the house beside from the lake and the apple and maple trees, there is a old storage house. At the lake, there is an old white boat with a broken paddle on it. There are also this sets of fishing rods on the corner of a wooden bridge connected across the other side of the end of the lake.

As peter awakes, its nearly dawn. He goes back to the house were he sees Susan getting ready for dinner, Lucy and the twins was not yet home.
"The drive from here remember, its two hours away from the city. its very far"

"Why do we live here? it's very far. i think we are living in a lawless" peter just laughed.

"It's your great great grandmother's house. We inherit it and here we are still maintaining it, as you can see you grow up here. You and your dad used to fish in the lake when you were a boy." Susan explained while obviously she's lonely about it.
"Here we are," Lucy and the twins just arrived with some foods. "How are you darling? Feeling good now? Come let's eat and take your medicine." They had their dinner enjoy a little chat. All the conversations were just questions, ofcourse by peter. They are happy, Lucy explained to peter what kind of husband he is and what was his life before, She also explains why the accident happened.
"Well the accident happened at the construction, there is a very long staircase that you and your buddy are working on. So you slipped on a wet paint and hit your head on one of the steps, you descended from the stairs and found unconscious, you were rushed to hospital and the doctors says that you had a coma. And we waited for 1 week for you to wake up, and you did, you remember waking up at the hospital for an hour and then sleep again, then waking up one week earlier here."
Peter just nodded and went back eating. "Well that's explains everything."
After the dinner the family decided to put a camp fire outside the house and chill there, they bring marshmallows and some meat to fire. They played games and gazed at the stars for an hour, laughing and teasing while lucy and peter is starting to be sweet. Susan sleep inside the house while the twins have their own sleeping bags while peter and lucy set up a tent. They really had a good time,
In the tent. Lucy kisses peter and holds his hands "This is what my kiss felt like if you don't remember." Peter kisses back and they had an intimate night. Peter now realizes that even though he can't remember the things happened in the past. He knows he will start a good one. He is now comfortable, his hunch of this family is now gone. And he feels like he is very much home, suddenly he remembers what he saw this afternoon in the boat. The writings there, he want to ask lucy about it. But she was asleep. "Maybe tomorrow, and it doesn't matter anymore" says pater. Peter can't sleep that night, maybe it's the fog that bothers him. He went inside the housw to take a cup of coffee, suddenly he sees susan drinking her tea and singing a weird song, he never expect that she was not sleeping yet its 2 in the morning.
"Can't sleep? Why? The fog?"

"Yeah, just want to have some coffee."
Peter spill a black coffee on a large mug he added some fresh milk on it and stir it. Then suddenly he notices some strange writings on the wooden wall near the sink,
"THEY ATE MY SOUL-P"
Its the same penmanship as what he sees in the boat. So he asked susan about it.
"What are these writings mom? Who wrote this?"

"I don't know son. Maybe it's your dad, or your grandfather. Its been there since"

Peter was not convince. Because of the initial "P" on it. He thinks that he wrote this and on the boat. But at the back of his mind he decides to leave it and just forgets about it.

"You know my son, there are a lot in these house that even I can't explain. So i just leave it, leave the past behind. You will understand this sooner when you remember things differently." Susan replied while continuing her weird singing and peter went to the wooden bridge at the lake and still have the writings bothering his mind. Too many questions that he want answers but he don't know how to ask. He went to the boat and lay down enjoying again the splash of water passing through the boat. He removes his jacket and makes it his blanket, he just stared at the stars while wondering what will he discovers of himself next. He closes his eyes and again fell sleep in the boat.
