the boy breaks into a run,
almost tripping over the uneven asphalt of the road
he walks up to a small home and rings the doorbell
before anyone answers
he leaves the bouquet of flowers on the welcome mat
and walks away
a sweet girl - the boy's longtime crush - opens to door to find the bouquet
she notices the boy pacing down the street and makes a note to call him later
little does she know the boy's fate
in what is now
twenty-seven minutes.
