I stood there, frozen. Unsure of what to do. It all seemed to go in a deadly slow motion.
I hadn't felt the tiny rain drops until now, they were getting bigger and tougher by the second. Josh still had his hands holding me, but he was also frozen.
"Ni-ick?"I said my voice cracking, coming out weaker than I meant it to.
He just stood there, with his head down. He finally looked up after it felt like a thousand years.
I looked at Maddie. Her eyes were a shade darker, sadness and regret pounding in her iris demanding attention.
When Nick finally looked up, I gave him a look, not of sadness or anger, but just a look.
"Why are you doing this to yourself?!" I practically yelled.
After a while, Josh spoke up. "Let's go Chloe" He pulled me to his old truck.
Josh opened the passenger door, and I climbed in with his help. He shut the door and headed to the driver side.
"What about my car?" I asked turning to him.
He looked deeply into my eyes.
"Don't worry about it" he responded, he looked down to my lips. Uncomfortable, I turned my head and looked out the window.
Where Nick and Maddie were in the middle of a argument. I no longer felt the butterflies in my stomach.
Josh started the old truck, and drove out of the aldc parking lot. I replayed the scene that happened a few minutes back. I felt my eyes water, I didn't stop the tears from coming down.
"Umm Josh? You passed my house" I said turning to look at him.
He was wearing boot cut jeans, a plain white T-shirt with a red white and black un-buttoned plaid shirt over it.n My sadden eyes skimmed down at his feet, he was wearing red vans.
"I know" He answered, still looking at the road.
I looked back at him, "Then where are we going?" I asked .
He quickly turned to look at me, smirking "You'll see" he replied.
He focused on the road. My eye lids started to get heavy, desiring sleep. So I gave my eyes their desire.
I woke up, to Josh shaking me ever so gently. I took in my surroundings. We were parked on tall grass, some purple flowers every now and then.
Once I got off the high truck, with Joshes help. I realized we were on a small hill. Near us there was a large oak tree. The oak tree looked to be about fifty feet tall.
Josh grabbed my hand, and walked towards the tree. He sat down under a gigantic branch, I did the same. I sat about two and a half inches away from Josh.
I bent knees, so that they were facing the large branch. I wrapped my arms around my legs in a relaxed matter.
There was a comfortable silence between the both of us. I took this time to look at my surroundings. I looked up first, to watch the leaves of the enormous oak tree. The leaves were a soft red, a tangy orange, and maybe a little bit of yellow around the edges.
I looked to my left, all I could see was another big hill. I frowned, I wonder what Is out there.
"Its beautiful isn't it?" Josh said breaking the silence.
"Yea" I simply responded. "Why are we here?" I asked turning my head to look at him.
"It got pretty bad back there, this is the only place I could think of. You know to just cool off and take a breather."
"Thanks Josh" I said.
"No problem" He responded.
"So do you come here often?" I asked with curiosity.
"Yea" He scratched his head "I usually bring my guitar with me though"
I brought my left hand to my chest, acting offended in a surprised way. " The all mighty Josh Hyland, plays the guitar?!?!?!"
He softly gave me a push with his shoulders. I dropped my hand.
"I never knew that" I spoke once again.
"Yeah, well there's a lot of things you don't know about me Lukasiak" He said, looking at me.
"Like what?" I asked. He looked down and smirked, playing with a piece of grass he pulled out of the ground nearby.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" He said, teasing me. I rolled my eyes. "Duh, that's why I asked".
"Well, I don't think its quite fair if I'm the only one saying secrets here, now is it?" He said, looking up from the now destroyed piece of grass.
I rolled my eyes again. "Guess not, here how about 20 questions?" I suggested.
"Okay, sure" He responded. "Question numero uno, What's your favorite color?"
"Really? You're wasting one question on that?"I said raising an eyebrow at him.
"Just answer the freaking question, Kay?" He replied sounding some what annoyed.
"Hmm let's see, favorite color..." I thought for a moment before replying " I don't have one".
"Okay... favorite song?"." Same thing, don't have one" I simply responded.
We repeated this process for about 15 questions. Josh asking things like, "Favorite Food?" "Place to go?" "Shoes?" "Favorite book?". All given with the same answer: "I don't have one"
"Dang Lukasiak, make up your little mind" He said with an annoyed smirk. "Why don't you not have any favorites?" He asked.
I shrugged, "I guess I'm not a very decisive person" I said looking down. He rolled his eyes "No Duh" This time. I pushed him with my shoulder, but hard.
He fell over, but brought me down with him. I shrieked. We were now facing each other, both on our sides.
"So why do you not have any favorites?" He asked more serious.
"I told you, I'm not a very decisive person" I said shrugging a little bit.
He shook his head. "No,there's more than that, you just choose not to tell me"
I sighed, turning to lay on my back. He did the same. "Just think about it, I mean why does everyone need favorites? We don't decide our favorites, the things around us do. Favorite song? What's popular, or how we are feeling in that stage of our life. Does that make any sense?" I stated turning my head to him.
He looked at me, He nooded softly. "Yea,yeah it does"
We entered another comfortable silence.
"Hey Josh, thanks for helping me taking my mind off things" I said breaking the silence.
He simply nooded. Leaning in. I leaned in to. But right before our lips touched I spoke up.
"I think its time to go"
"Yea let's go"
