Thea's POV

I quickly back up from the door and tell him to go ahead. The door is kicked down and my eyes land on the man that is here to supposedly rescue me.

I can't help the gasp that leaves my mouth. He has to be the most gorgeous man I have ever laid eyes.

I quickly shake those thoughts away. They weren't making any sense and were making me uncomfortable. I haven't thought like that in a long time. After everything I have gone through since I've been taken, I'm disgusted with myself for even humoring the thought. There is no time right now for me to feel this way and there may never be again.

Kaden's POV

When I heard her voice on the other side of the door, sounding so meek and scared, I couldn't help but feel a sharp pang in my chest. It breaks my heart knowing she's been kidnapped for the past six years, having to deal with her family's death on her own. Being tortured to no end, these guys doing God knows what to her.

And now, seeing her in the flesh, my heart nearly stops. Even covered in dirt and bruises and wounds, I can't help but find her stunning. The pictures I've seen of her from six years ago didn't do her justice. It takes me a second to stop gawking and for my voice to start working again.

"We need to go! Now! Everyone in this house heard me knock this door down and they will be on our asses within the next 20 seconds. Now MOVE," I say without even stopping to take a breath. She starts walking towards me and once she's out of the room, I grab her hand and we run towards the stairs.

As we run, she stumbles a bit...like she doesn't know how to use her legs anymore. Who knows, maybe she doesn't. I don't know what she's been through all this time. But I can imagine, and what I'm imagining is absolutely horrific and makes me want to burn this whole place to the ground and everyone else in it with it.

I just keep hoping that she can make it to the car without me having to carry her. It'll be hard to shoot my gun with a girl in my arms.

We are half way down the stairs when I hear it. A stampede of footsteps directly behind us. We need to move faster.

"Thea, I need you to pick up the fucking pace. I really rather not die tonight."

As a response, all I hear is a grunt and her trying to shuffle along faster. The next sound I hear stops my heart for a split second.

Gunshots.

Bullets are flying around us. I quickly aim my hand with my gun pointing behind me and start firing off some rounds. I can't turn around while I'm running forward, so I'm shooting totally blind.

I hear one guy grunt and drop down like a sack of potatoes, but I still hear the others hot on our tails. "Just 300 more feet Thea. We can do this. We can make it out."
