The days dragged on. Every new day was just another day that Louis avoided my gaze, and I avoided his. It was another wasted day. Another day that could've been spent in each other's arms. We could've been kissing. Holding each other. Making love. But instead we avoided eye contact and only spoke to each other when we had to.
It was the only way to remain civil.
Every time we tried to have an honest to god talk it ended in us screaming at each other. It would be over the smallest things too. Who had the last of the tea. Who left their pants on the floor. Who forgot to knock on the bathroom door. The smallest of things. Even when we were dating it was the smallest of things that would lead to a fight too. Only we had a reason to make up. We always had a reason to make up. But, not anymore.
"Haz, breakfast is ready," Niall chirped as he made his way past my bunk, hitting his hand against the wood. That was uncharacteristic. The last few days the boys had been avoiding me at all costs, and they never used endearing nicknames. Maybe it had all been a dream. A nightmare. Maybe Louis and I never broke up.
But, when I climbed out of my bunk and saw Louis' eyes, I knew it wasn't. It was all still real. I frowned softly and made my way over to the kitchen and grabbed myself a piece of bacon from the pile.
"We have the day off today," Liam breathed before taking a bite of his eggs. "So, we're going to spend it together," Liam hummed causing a frown to touch my lips. Together? Could we even do that anymore?
"Are you su-," I started to protest, but Zayn quickly cut me off.
"We already discussed it, Harry. It's been decided. If you don't want to join us, fine. But, it really won't do anything to fix any of our issues if you do," Zayn explained.
"I don't know if it's the best idea," Louis piped up, my heart aching in my chest. "I mean, Harry and I can't even be in the same room as each other for more than a few minutes," Louis muttered.
Hearing him say my name broke me again. Just hearing it fall from his thin pink lips. His thick Yorkshire accent. It just wasn't fair. It wasn't fair that he affected me the way he did.
"Like I just said, Louis. We're doing it. You can come if you want. You can stay if you want. But, we need a bonding day if we're going to save this band. If you care anything about this band then you will come," Zayn said firmly.
Louis and I both looked to each other, frowning heavily. They were right. We were broken. All of us. We had slipped apart and Louis and I ending things really hadn't helped.
"If you're thinking we'll get back togeth-," I started, but was once again cut off.
"We don't," Niall said. "We know you aren't."
Ouch.
"Right," I mumbled as I dropped my eyes and sniffled. I missed Louis. Of course I did. I wanted nothing more than to be in his arms, snuggled up to his chest, pressing soft kisses, and whispering sweet nothings back and forth. I wanted him to trace over his tattoos with his fingers like he used to. But, Niall was right. We were over.
"But, you can try to be friends," Liam breathed after a few moments of silence.
Friends. Right.

I don't know who's idea it was, but it was a bad one. A hike. They thought a hike would bond us. Get us working together. A bloody hike. I was working hard to catch my breath as I trekked up the endless hill. The scenery was beautiful. That couldn't be denied. We didn't get to see much of that anymore; spending our lives in large cities when we weren't trapped in buses and hotel rooms. But, it still didn't have us talking. We were all struggling to breath, so talking was out of the question. We just walked silently in a line, mumbling a bit to each other every few minutes. Louis and I had yet to say one word to each other, though.
