If he noticed

those scars by hips

would he have stopped?

if he saw

fear swimming in her eyes

would he have thought twice

if he heard her thoughts

of panic and hesitation

would he have continued?

if he knew that her 'yes'

actually meant 'no'

would he have walked away?

if he knew

how much she loved him

would he have still done it?

That night she dreamt of sweet nothings

happily anticipating a future that held him

but the morning after

she gazed on the empty spot

next to her on the bed

and how his stuff had disappeared

as swiftly as he had

in that moment she realized that she was nothing to him,

just another notch on his belt

and she hoped that this realization was enough to bring back

the special part of her heart

that he tore away from her

with each tear she shed, she wept out another prayer

to wake up from the harsh reality

and to succumb her into a dreamland

where he would hold her and whisper in her ear

she begged and begged for him to come back

but he didn't
