to get the girl
tell her she's funny
though she gives the punch line away
tell her she's pretty
even when she has zits on her face
tell her you understand her
even if you don't at all
tell her she's perfected
even though she's flawed
let her be right
even when she's dead wrong
hold her in your arms
protect her heart from harm
talk to her sweetly
tell her she's loved
kiss her gently
prove you care
play with her hair
keep her hand in yours
be a little cheesy-sometimes it's ok
tell her only truths
and when you do
I'll be sitting at home
blasting music and staring at the phone
give me a call
when you find you don't like her at all//
