I quickly made my way home from thep capital after stopping at the market to restock on food. When I arrived home, I found my grandmother in bed.
"Did you overwork yourself today?" i asked with a sigh. "You arent well and yoy wont even see a doctor-" she cut me off.
"Sit down" she ordered. I did as she said, feeling too tired to continue nagging her anyway. She knows how to take care of herself right? She knows what shes doing.
"What is it?" I asked her. She let out another cough, but this time I noticed something I never did before.
There was blood on her hands.
My eyes grew in panic as i scrambled up from my chair. "W-Why?" i managed to choke out. Why did she hide this from me.
"It was bound to happen soon" she sighed, wiping the blood off and acting as if it was nothing.
"I told you to see a doctor. Oh my god. What do we do? What happened? Wh-" she cut me off again with another cough.
Right. She doesnt need her grandaughter nagging her head of at the moment.
I grabbed a glass of water, unsure of what else to do. Medicine wasnt my thing, it was hers. All i could do was sit in panic while trying tp find out what to do. Or what was happening at least.
"I had a vision" was all she said after completely removing the blood from her hands. Is this really what she wanted to tell me? She could be dying.
"The world is going to war" she said. My mind shot back to what I heard at the palace a while ago. War.
"Why?" I asked her. "The same reason our world was ruined in the first place" she sighed. "Power. The kingdoms wish to expand and gain more power and money"
"But north Asia is doing well. We have enough isnt it?" I rambled, not being able to wrap my head around the situation.
"Yes but the Kings still want power. All kingdoms will be on high alert" she said. "There has been high tension among them for quite some time now"
"What do we do?" I asked in panic. What can i do. Shes old, i need to save her. Shes been there for me all my life. Shes all i have.
"I know right" she exclaimed. "I did not sign up to survive through 2 wars. I want that contract back" she laughed. How can she make jokes at a time like this?
"Yunji, darling. I have a plan. I've been having visions of the war for the longest time already" she explained, rather calmly might I add.
"At first, i thought it was over after the first war. Thata when i noticed things didnt go the way they did in my visions" she continued.
"Those 'demons', remember them?" she asked me, though i know it was rhetorical. I nodded anyway, completely intrigued by what she was saying.
"There are 7 of them left. I helped them escape death and they had decendants thus the 7. Find them and stop this war" she told me seriously.
She held my hand while i stared at her in complete shock, still unable to comprehend what she just told me. She wants me to do What.
She stayed silent, waiting for me to say something.
"Remember how i taught you how to shoot guns and use knives?" she asked me once i snapped back to reality. I stayed silent and nodded again
"I told you, I've been preparing you for tge longest time now. You even know survival tricks" she smiled softly. "You can do it"
"Grandmother. Why?" I asked her. Why me? Why do I have to do something? Why should I find these 7 supposed demons.
"They arent demons, you know?" she said. "Theyre still somewhat humane. Just think of them as fallen angels"
"Why am i doing this?" I asked her. "Its your destiny" she said softly, pity evident in her eyes.
"Where do i even start? How could I find them? What do i do once I've gathered them?" I asked her. She tried soothing me by rubbing her thumb against my hand.
"Thats up to you. I can only tell you this much though. One of them live in the capital. Theyre spread around the whole world. One in each kingdom" she said.
"Finding one can lead you to the other" she said. She got up but she was visibly unstable. I ran to her side but she ignored my help and walked to her closet.
"These 7, theyre powerful. They have powers and specialize with weaponry" she told me. I listened intently.
"But, beware. These 7 are special. They have a little...something to them" she warned me. It was as if she wasnt sure how to explain what she was trying to say.
"Here" she handed me a bag full of things i would need like a spare change of clothes, a mask and some other equipment.
There were even weapons in the giant bag she gave me. "Remember that thing i would tell you when you were younger?" she asked me.
"Yeah..what about it?" I asked her wearily. "Check under your bed" she told me. I looked at her, lost for whst felt like the millionth time.
She, once again, ignored me and went to sleep. But not without telling me one last thing.
"Start searching tomorrow. You wont be needing your job in the future and who knows when the kingdom will be on lockdown"
