"Demon?" I asked him. His look turned to one of amusement but a fake one. So very blatantly fake. "Thats me" he said.

"Please, hear me out. I need your help" he scoffed after I finished my sentence but I continued anyway. "The kin-" he cut me off.

"Wait" he hissed "The king? Not here" he said, pulling somewhere else. We reached a village and entered a house.

It was nicer than I expected. Surprisingly clean.

He dragged me upstairs to a bed room

Ah shit. I just fell into a trap didnt i

"Sit" he commanded and I obeyed. This was his territory, who knows what he has here. And what he can do to me...

"Now speak. And dont think about screaming for help or i will slit you before a single sound cones out of you" he threatened me. I nodded slowly, scared for my life.

"I need your help, please" I pleaded but his response was "Just get to the point. I want to finish"

"The kings" I started. "They're planning to go to war with each other" his look finally did turn into genuine amusement. Tf

"Oh what a scenario. That will be fun to watch from the sidelines" he laughed, claping his hands together as if he really wants it to happen.

"They're planning to use you" I blurted. "You and the remaining 6". His eyebrows furrowed together.

"They wont find me" he said, so sure of himself. "I can wipe out all those officials anyway" he said but i just stared at him.

"Please help me stop them" i begged him but he just stared at me as if I said the dumbest thing ever.

"I want to see them fall apart. Why should I help you?" he asked me, standing from the chair next to the bed. He had a point though...this is harder than I thought.

"Once you wipe out the kings and restore peace, can't you take over or just do whatever it is you wanted?" I asked him.

"What I wanted was to take you but you talk to much" he scoffed. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes and him and respond with an answer that could get me killed.

He sauntered to the bed, making me back up a bit. His face stayed blank, as if he was deep in thought.

"Fine. Assuming I do help you, what makes you think I, or the others, wont take the kingdoms and pull the same shit as these current idiots?" he asked me.

Once again, he had a really good point and i hated it.

"You see, the world is just a dead thing for us to take" he said, talking to me like i was a child. "So tell me, why should I help you?"

I stared at him, speechless and unable to think of an answer. He nodded, knowing I had nothing to say.

"Get out" he told me. "What?" I asked, dumbfounded that he was letting me go. I thought he was goint to kill me like he did to his other victims.

"You heard me" he said blankly. "You killed my mood. Get out" I bolted for the door before he could say anything else, afraid he would change his mind.

Great, now what do I do. I've practically already failed.

I arrived home but it was more silent than usual. It started pouring outside so I was thankful I made it home before it started raining.

I tried going to my grandmothers room, thinking she might be resting since she was sick after all. And I was right, she was in bed.

I neared her but I could feel a pit in my stomach growing. She held a bloodied handkerchief in her hand with her eyes closed.

"Grandma?" I asked, shaking her gently. She was too close tl the edge of the bed. Suddenly, she rolled off and with a loud thud, she hit the floor.

I let out a shriek of horror and ran outside into the pouring rain.

She was dead.

I shook uncontrollably and started crying. Some neighbors came out to see what was going on. Some ran to me, asking what was wrong.

All I managed to sputter out was "Shes dead" before my vision started to darken and my head felt lighter and suddenely, I was out.

"Granny!" my younger self exclaimed, running into her arms. She held me tightly and brought me inside.

"I know working in the palace is hard at yoyr age but please" she said "Stay strong. You need to be strong for the future"

I nodded, looking down and playing with my fingers. What choice did I have? My parents practically sold me off to work in the palace.

"Do you want to do target practice?" she asked me, bringing out some knives and guns. We lived in the outskirts meaning we were surrounded by fields.

I nodded, figuring that would get my mind of my parents and distract me for a while.

I woke up in my bedroom surrounded by some neighbors. My mind flashed back to what happened to my grandmother and suddenly i felt nauseous again.

"You were out for 2 days" an old man said, his wife nodded next to him. "We're so sorry for what happened. Her burial will be taking place later"

I teared up. It finally hit me, shes really gone. Shes dead.

"I suggest getting ready if you want to make it" she said. I nodded and got up, feeling more discouraged than ever.
