When everyone started busying themselves to get us to land somewhere, Jack grabbed me by the arm and drug me into his cabin. He yelled for Mr. Gibbs to bring Sebastian here and proceeded to slam the door behind us.
"Sit down." he orders and I do as told. He was absolutely livid. I had never seen him this way.
Moments later the door opens and Sebastian steps in. His demeanor was calm and collected but his face said other wise.
"You asked for me, sir?"
"Take a seat." Jack says nodding toward the chair beside me. Sebastian hesitates.
Jack opens his mouth to say something but I jump in to defend Sebastian. "You told him not to come near me, remember?"
"Clearly that's done nothing to stop him so far." Jack argues. "You know why I called you in here, boy?"
"I was with your daughter, sir."
"Exactly, so if you could be so free with her just moments ago, you should have no problem sitting beside her now."
Sebastian nods his head and strides over in this direction; taking the seat beside me.
"Jack, I already told you. It wasn't him. I went to him, I was the one who disobeyed you." I explain. I had to do something to get him to direct his anger somewhere other than Sebastian.
"That's the thing Pearl. My orders were disobeyed. That's the likes of mutiny to me."
"Ja-"
"Don't interrupt me!" he yells. "He's already betrayed me, and it seems you're well on your way to following in his footsteps."
I shake my head, "Jack you're looking at this the wrong way."
"He gave you to Hector! Have you forgotten that?!" Jack yells.
"He was trying to keep me safe!" I argue. "Why can't you understand that?" I was in the verge of tears. This was after all a matter of life or death for Sebastian.
"Hector threatened to kill and rape you! How is that safe?!" Jack wasn't yelling to be angry anymore. He was yelling because he was scared. I knew he wanted to protect me from a man be didn't trust and bringing up a memory where he was equally scared or more probably wasn't helping the situation.
I didn't have an argument for that. For once I had no defense.
Jack clears his throat as he realizes he had the control over the argument, something he was quite surprised about. "I don't trust him," he says calmly; noticing that was obviously upset. "I don't trust him to be on this ship, but I allowed him to be; for you. All I asked was you stay away from him, but you didn't. That's insubordination. Someone has to be punished." He pulls out his gun and starts loading it.
"Punish me then! I was the one that broke the rule!" My heart was pounding.
He points the gun at Sebastian. "I am punishing you. This is your punishment." His finger moves to the trigger and I lunge out of my chair to stand in front of Sebastian.
"Stop it Jack!" I scream.
"Pearl, move!" he yells back.
I shake my head. My heart was beating uncontrollably fast. I couldn't let him hurt Sebastian.
"Pearl, get out of the way!"
"NO!" I yell. "I'm not going to let you hurt him."
His hand was shaking at this point as his grip on the gun grew tighter. "Pearl. Step. Aside."
I take a deep breath as I try to blink away the tears. "If you're going to kill him, you have to kill me first." I say sternly.
"Pearl..." his voice was wavering but I knew he wasn't going to back down and neither was I. I after all got my stubbornness from him.
"Jack, he helped Will with your escape. He's part of the reason you're alive still. He brought me back to you. He's more than made up for what he did. You owe him." I say.
"Why can't you just let me pull this trigger? Just let it be over with." he questions.
"I love him," I admit. "and I don't want to live in a world without him. If you're so adamant on ending his life then end mine too."
He puts the gun down. "Why? Why must you put me in this position?"
"I have to fight for who I love. Wouldn't you do the same if it were you and mom?"
He sighs and flops down into his chair behind his desk. I knew I could sit down now but I was scared to step out of the way. I didn't want to let my guard down, so I did something a little bold. I sat in Sebastian's lap.
Jack's eyes widen. He points at the other chair, "Get in it NOW."
"Don't hurt him then." I argue.
"You're making it hard not to!" he yells. I stand up and take a seat in the chair.
"So this is what I'm going to do. when we get to land wherever that may be, he will get off the ship and not get back on it. Until then, you two are to stay away from each other."
"Jack!" I protest. He stops me from saying anything else.
"He's not staying on this ship anymore. That's your punishment. I'm being kind enough to let him live so if I were you I wouldn't protest, Pearl."
"Jack, I love him..."
"Well true love always finds a way." he says with a glare. "Now you can escort him to the brig and then I want you back in here."
I stand up and Sebastian follows my actions. I grab his hand and walk him over to the door. I stop before I open it.
"You know what, Jack? I see why mother left you now."
I open the door and lead Sebastian out. I slammed the door behind me and stomped down to the brig. I should have never sought Jack out. I shouldn't have helped him escape the two times I did. I should have stayed in Port Royal. At least then I would have been able to be with Sebastian.
I knew what I said to Jack wasn't necessary. He and mother loved each other very much, and she didn't leave because she didn't love him, but I wouldn't blame her if she had. I have half a mind to do just that.
I walk over to cell and open the door. Sebastian walks in and takes a seat on one of the old benches. I look around the room, not wanting to leave. Then I spot them.
I walk over to the chains and grab them and the key. The rattling of the metal surprises him and he looks up.
"I know it might be a little crazy but..."
