"Why can't you be mine?" he asks still holding my hand.

I smiled. "Because you haven't asked me yet." I stick out my tongue at him.

He chuckled and kneeled down. "Emily Rose Brooke," I raised my eyebrow. "will you be my one and only girlfrie-"

"Em!" someone yelled at me and started smacking me with pillows.

I sat up and immediately and turned to see a laughing Jake beside me. "What?!"

"You were all like, 'Oh Bryce'" he said in a girly tone. "You should have seen yourself!" he laughed and held his stomach.

I blushed a little and got some pillows on my bed and started hitting him. He got some too and did the same. We were doing a pillow fight nonstop, until I quit because I had to prepare for school. I took a long warm shower. I wore my blue tank top with my dark colored hoodie, my skinny jeans, and my black boots.

After that, I told Jake that I'm ready and we both raced downstairs. I saw my mom at the kitchen with a mug of coffee.

"Hey mom." I waved at her.

"Hi sweetie. I'm sorry I wasn't able to inform you that I got home yesterday." I kissed her cheek.

"Oh, no it's fine. I was at Jake's that time." I grabbed an apple from the counter.

"Hey Mrs. Brooke. Thanks for letting me in." Jake smiled at her.

She turned to Jake and grinned. "Nonsense dear, you're always welcomed. Thank you for taking care of Emily when I'm not around."

"Okay! Well, we better get going now." I grabbed Jake's arm and dragged him out the from door. I yelled a 'Bye mom' and went in Jake's car.

He started driving and asked me, "What was that about?"

"My mom thinks we're 'secretly dating'." I rolled my eyes.

"Hmm.. maybe we are." he smirked.

I smacked his arm and he just laughed. "Gross, Jake. Just gross."

When we arrived at school, I headed first to my locker. I was surprised when I saw Sophia leaning against it with a sad expression.

"Soph, are you okay?" I asked with a worried expression.

She shook her head and grabbed my hand to the restroom. She checked all the cubicles and luckily, no one was here.

I raised my eyebrows waiting for her to speak. Then, she started crying. I repeat, crying.

"I saw him." she whispered.

I was too shocked with what was happening. I rubbed her arm. "What happened?"

I've never seen her this hurt. I've never seen her this fragile. Sophia was one of the strongest girls I know.

She covered her face with her hands and continued crying. "I saw him," she repeated. I knew who she meant, Nate. "When I came in the school, I saw him kissing some brunette girl. They were on a total make out session." she sniffed. "I don't know why I'm so hurt even though he's not mine. But when I saw them, I felt a pinch in my heart and it hurts so bad."
