Smile and try to forget

The silver eyes of death,
The jaw of a beast,
A tub full of blood,
And your arm is his feast.

To join him is death,
To ignore is to release,
But you join him every time.

This nightmare keeps playing,
Alone in my head,
The beast it keeps slaying,
And saying what's said.
It tells me to smile,
And try to forget.

But how can I when I see it in bed.
I watched you die over,
And over,
And over again.

I cannot bear to see you then.
When the cold kiss of death
has stricken your face,
and the coldness of life has taken your place,
When the light that shines bright is left out of place,
We see the beast and his hideous face.
The mane of white,
and muzzle of red,
The teeth of razors,
Embedded In the dead,
The paws filled with power,
And boiling rage,
And your face filled with fear
On his bloody new stage,
His eyes filled with ice,
Not hot but ice cold,
As his bite drags you down to his eternal hole,
"Smile" he says,
"And try to forget." He whispers.
