BROOKES POV

today I fly back to Cali for hockey tryouts. Austin walks me to the terminal.

"Make sure to be good to grandpa! watch out for him! and good luck!"

"I will and thanks! you too! knock Arizona dead! see you in New Mexico!"

"We always do haha and New Mexico it is!" I hug him

"Bye dad love you."

"Bye bear love you too. safe flight okay call me when you land and stay on the phone till you find grandpa!"

"Will do" we break the hug and I wave as I board the plane.

*BACK IN CALI*

"Yes Austin I see him, yeah he's right there, yes, okay hold on."

"Hi Grandpa!" I say embracing him in a hug. "oh Austin want to make sure you're here with me" I give him the phone.

"Okay. Hey Austin, how Arizona?..oh good good... yea I'll get her there... 4:00 yea I got it.... It's 3:00 now.... okay I'll tell her. Talk to you soon son. alrighty bye."

"Tell me what?"

"Oh he says good luck and that he loves you" I nod and climb in the car.

*TRYOUTS*

I sit in the girls locker room, twiddling my lucky bracelet nervously. the boys and I all made them and I wear it every time I go on the ice. I'm the only girl trying out for this team, they are called the California Cougars((an: real team :) )). there's a knock on the door. I open it to see one of the coaches.

"we're about ready to take the ice, all the boys are decent in the locker room so you can head in there."

"okay thank you sir"

I walk in and all heads snap to me. some smirk and check me out, some roll their eyes, and the rest continue with their conversations. I sit down next to a kid with blond and black hair and a kid with just brown hair.

"hey! I'm jack!" the kid with the blond says excitedly. "this is my best friend alex! we are wingers! what are you? how long have you been playing? I've never seen you here! did you move? where are you fr-" he fires off questions but is cut off by 'Alex'.

"J, go easy on the girl!" he says and turns to me with a lopsided grin. "sorry about him, I let him get Taco Bell before this and burritos make him really hyper. I'm Alex as Jack said, he's a doofus" Alex says whacking Jack on the back of the head. I laugh and they both look at each other and grin.

"you like burritos?" I ask Jack.

"try LOVEEE! DO YOU!?" he replies.

"hell yea! they rock!" Jack jumps and squishes me in a hug.

"yay yay yay yay yay we are going to be bestest friends and we will go eat burritos together and it will be great!" all I do is laugh.

"okay, looks like we've got a lot of players so let's hit the ice for warm ups guys.. and girl"

I stretch and skate around a bit, then we start drills, forward and backward skating. defense worked on defense as offense crashed the nets while the goalies worked hard to stop shots. then we worked on power plays and penalty shots. we went threw 2 v 2s and a bunch more shooting drills. pretty soon the two hour tryout was over and we were all stacked up by the benches.
