It has been three hours since Dinah was in Lauren's room filling in the silence but now she was alone with her own thoughts again. Her eyes falling every once in a while on the sea of clouds sprawled on her bed. In a few minutes Dinah will arrive and she hasn't even picked an outfit. Her throat clamping up, palms sweaty, her breath ragged. She hasn't been around anyone outside her family, her best friend and strangers in a while. Hell she has forgotten how to communicate with other human beings that she wasn't comfortable with.  The last time she communicated with anyone outside her circle was Lucy's funeral. Everyone had nothing but sympathetic stares and excuses which only annoyed her even more. Her thoughts were cut off by a loud shout coming from her mother. She was calling out to let her know of Dinah's arrival.

A deep breath escaped her mouth before replying to her mother. She got the nearest shirt along with her denim jacket, quickly putting it on. She gave her mirror one last look, running her fingers through her hair convincing herself that today won't be as bad as last time. One last breath, as she ran to meet her best friend who was seated in the kitchen island stuffing her face.

"You can never stop yourself, can you?" Lauren chuckled at the sight of Dinah drowning herself with double stuffed oreos. Quickly earning a glare and middle finger from her best friend.

She took a seat at the opposite side of Dinah, with another pitch-black haired girl seated right next to her. Both girls quickly stuffing oreos in their mouths. Lauren's mother on the other hand, was wrapped up in her cooking to even notice the devouring of their snacks.

Once her mouth was cleared of food, downing a cup of water. Her sister, Megan, spoke, "Damn, Dinah. You got her out of bed? Especially and specifically this day? What'd you do, girl?" eyeing Lauren as if it was certainly peculiar for her to be in their presence right now, quickly turning back to Dinah. Her eyes pleading with answers as to how she managed to get Lauren out of bed.

Earning a glare from the other girl, and as if that wasnt enough her own mother decided to put her two cents in the conversation. "Yeah, Dinah how'd you do this? " A hand placed on her hips, the other holding a spatula pointing it in Lauren's direction.

A grunt left Lauren's lips, full of irritation from the conversation. "Shut up, Megan. And really mom? Really?" Rolling her eyes, her head shaking side to side. Only to earn a couple of hands in the air raised in surrender, leaving Dinah chuckling at their interaction.

It used to be different.

She was hollowed up in her room, her thighs pressed against her chest. Her eyes swelling from all the tears streaming down her face. Her shirt soaked by the droplets escaping from her eyes. It was as if she was trapped. Her breath ragged as if she was drowning, even if she was under a roof where there was no water to drown her. Her lungs drying out, her mind silently screaming for help.

Suddenly a bright flash of light came entering my room. The door slightly open.

It was her best friend. Lauren wanted someone to save her. Only the one she wanted to do so is long gone and not within her grasp. "Hey, Laur. " Dinah's voice soft and calm. She made her way to the girl sitting at the side of her queen sized bed.

She sniffled, trying to pretend she didn't hear the Polynesian speak to her. Minutes pass by but nothing, Dinah stayed there taking a seat beside her. "Please, Dinah. Leave."  her voice strained from all of her screaming and muffled by her head tightly pressed against her thighs.

"No. Don't push me away too. We don't have to talk, just know that I'm here. " Making the tears fall off of Lauren's eyes stinging a little more than she expected.

They stayed there for hours, they didn't talk Dinah living up to her word. She sat there beside her best friend with the weight of the world on her shoulders. After hours of sitting Lauren eventually fell asleep causing the shift of her weight onto Dinah's shoulder. Leaving her best friend to release a sigh as she lifted Lauren place her onto her bed.

With her last gulp of water Dinah stood up from her seat going over to Lauren's mother. "Okay. We'll go now Mama J. See you guys tomorrow! " Leaving a kiss on Lauren's mom and giving Megan a high five. Instantly pulling Lauren's arm dragging her out without even getting a chance to say goodbye to her family.

She finally slowed down as we approached her car. "Always so eager, Dinah. " Lauren said with outmost sarcasm getting in Dinah's silver range rover.

Earning a huff from the other girl, whilst continuing to back up Lauren's drive way and speeding off to their destination. "You made me this way, Lauren. You always make me wait, with your late ass. " Her eyes trained on the road.

A slight chuckle escaped from the dark-haired girl. All the while her unsettling thoughts running back to her head once more."By the way who are these people going? Could I get some background?" She uttered while maintaining her breathing that slowly became increasingly hard to contain.

"They're from Houston and my childhood bestfriends. Before my family moved here and i met you. " Giving the other a reassuring smile with a couple of glances. The other hummed in response, and continued to chew on her bottom lip while fiddling with her fingers. The silence became all too much, deafening in fact especially for Dinah.

"Don't worry, Laur. You'll be fine. I'll drive you back home if you still don't feel comfortable yeah? " Her voice sincere nd caring that was able to slightly soothe Lauren's never ending train of thoughts. She gave her a tight-lipped smile and soon enough they fell back into their normal conversations. The teasing, stupid jokes, Dinah's boy escapades and random thoughts but never about what that day was. Hell none of them could even begin to say what had happened that day. They couldn't, especially Lauren. Right now, all she wanted was to forget the pain of it all, and that's what Dinah is trying to do.

I really wish you were here, mi amor.
