[ bold text are things that i have changed ]There was a time when Persephone's family were complete. She had her father and mother by her side, both loving their daughter dearly. And then Persephone's family of three became four when her mother gave birth to the most beautiful girl ever. Persephone couldn't remember a time where she had been happier than when she realized she'd be a big sister.
But at that time Persephone was only 7 and had no idea of the most important law on the Ark; no second child. So when Persephone's younger sister was born, her mother let Persephone decide of her name. Persephone remembered where she had read a book about the main character called Hope, so she wanted her sister to have the name after her female superhero. After all, the name had a beautiful meaning.
The mother and the father had never felt happier before, but they knew what was to come. They knew that Hope and Persephone would be taken away from them as soon as possible, and their eyes filled with tears every time they thought about it. Their small children would be orphans since the Ark had decided to float the parents.
And the day came when Persephone woke up to guard swarming her home, shouting and breaking things. She remembered the cries of her little sister, and her mother running towards her, trying desperately to tell her 'I love you'. Persephone witnessed how some guards took a hold of her mother and father, taking them out of the door.
Some other guard went to the small bed where Hope was laying, and Persephone rushed forward, grabbing the arm of the guard, begging him not to take her little sister away from her. He looked down at her sadly, he didn't have a choice.
And just like that, Hope had been ripped away from her way too soon.

Persephone heard muffled voices all around her, filling her ears with noise. She groaned and turned to her side because she thought that she was asleep. But then she felt the hard floor beside her, and her eyes shot open.
She turned her head towards the closest person beside her and realized that it was Abby. For a second she couldn't remember why she was there, but then the memories came back.
Your sister is dying.
"No, no, no, no!" She found herself shouting, feeling how dry her throat was. She shakily stood up with the help of Abby Griffin, and she felt her hands shake. She looked at Abby, asking with her eyes if her sister really was dying to which Abby nodded.
Persephone felt the tears build up in her eyes, and she quickly hurried to her sister's cell. And the view confirmed everything.
Hope was laying down on her cell bed, eyes closed as she was asleep. Her brown skin had gotten a sick gray color, making her look like a ghost and her eye locks had a dark color.
