The Human Nature
By Millennial Merlin
I know of man made forests.
Human habitats.
Great stone trees sprouting from the seeds
Of mankind’s minds.
5. Semi-civilization rooted in concrete plots.
Expanses planted over countless miles.
Stretching strips of star-lit clearings
Put to overuse.
Law firm ferns
10. With a firm’s firm grip
On the rich soil.
Overgrowth overpopulating the polluted plots
With soot for soil.
High-rises in the canopy
15. Getting most of the sunshine.
Lower predators hunting at night,
While the most vicious have clean paws
And still sleep until the sunrise marks a new day.
People taking more than one niche
20. To keep the fire lit for their kids.
Seeds of fruit bearing trees
Dying under the cover of weeds.
Deforestation is coming
And dreams are to be uprooted.
25. The dirt is eroding beneath us.
Maybe it’s time to replant.
