The Jump.
I was going to do it. I was ready to die ,I was at the bridge ready to jump both my legs were over the edge all that was left for me to do was jump. And I was about to when I heard someone yell
"Wait! Ellie please wait."
I recognized the voice and I turned around to look only to slip off the edge, I was about to scream when he caught my hand.
"I got you."
He said grunting as held on to my hand.
" Christian. "
I say shocked to see who was trying to save me.
"Hey" he said trying to pull me up.
"No let me fall you'll fall with me if you don't."
I said trying to wiggle my hand free from his.
"No Ellie look at me, I'm not going to let go. Now pull yourself up."
He said looking at me.
"Ellie come on, give me your other hand come on. Ellie please."
Tears slip from my eyes as he takes hold of my other hand and pulls me up, as he did landed on top of him. His arms came around my waist protectively.
"Christian why did you---"
I began to say only for him to place a finger on my lips.
"Shhush "
We looked into each other's eyes and as I did I saw something I never seen before
Worry.
Genuine worry was written in his eyes but why? Why would he worry about someone like me. The freak everyone wants to get away from.
"Your not a freak. "
He said moving my hair away from my eyes.
"Wait what, How did you---"
I began but stopped and question myself if he read my mind or not.
"You're not a freak Ellie I don't see that way."
He said rubbing his fingers against my cheeks.
"How did you know I was here?"
I asked.
"I was just passing by and saw you." He said looking at me again.
This time there was something different written in his eyes, but I couldn't tell what was written in them. I didn't tell anyone where I would be today not even Cassie. Cassie is my best friend. Whenever my dad drinks and acts up I run to her. Cassie and I have been friends since childhood. She been there for me since Mom passed away, more so now since my father started drinking and being abusive towards me.
"Ellie."
Christian said breaking me out of my thoughts.
"Ellie what were you thinking?"
Christian asked and I didn't have an answer to why I wanted to die, to just jump off that bridge and end it all.
"I don't know."
I answered truthfully. I had no answer to his question.
"Let's go to the cafe. We can talk more about it there."
He said taking my hand in his pulling me up with him. He took off his coat and tossed it over my shoulder.
"Thank you."
I said my hand still in his as we walked away from the bridge.
