Chapter 1. Him

It was the last night of summer, I dreaded going back to school. I had lived in the same house, and the same town, with the same people for the past 17 years of my life. I was not looking forward to the first day, there wasn't much to look forward to at all. I has seen the same faces glare at me in the halls since freshmen year, and things had gotten old. I packed my bag and picked out my outfit for the following morning, washed by face and went to sleep praying tomorrow would never come, I buried my head into my pillow.
    "Gracie! Get up, your alarm has been going off for 40 minutes now! You'll barely have any time to get ready for school!" I heard my mom yelling from down the hall. Still half asleep I rolled over and was blinded by the light from my phone, shit it was already 7:30 and school started at 8. I nearly jumped out of bed to try to look semi-decent in what little time I had to get ready. I lived in Oregon, and in Oregon it rains more often times than not. Without even checking the weather I threw on my black Calvin Klein t-shirt, black jeans with ripped knees, black vans and my signature black rain jacket. The only makeup I felt like wearing was mascara and a bit of concealer under my eyes so I didn't look dead. Time for hell.

    The day was going as I expected, keeping my head down, avoiding all forms of contact, and leaving at 11 to eat lunch at my house by myself. When I came back from lunch, and took a seat in my 3rd period chemistry class, that's when everything shifted. I, of course hadn't been paying much attention to my surroundings, I lifted my eyes up when I smelled the faint scent of cigarette smoke, although I would usually be turned off by the scent, it was mixed with a certain cologne that was more than intriguing to me.
    That's when I saw him, the most gorgeous person I'd ever laid eyes on. His dark brown hair (that could easily be mistaken as black) was pushed back by his fingertips. He was making direct eye contact with me, it honestly made my heart jump to look up and see his gorgeous green eyes. "Is this seat taken?" he said softly, almost in a whisper. I realized I was staring, and I wouldn't be too surprised if my jaw was slightly dropped. After an awkward
3 seconds I shook my head and he sat down next to me. He was so close I could smell the cigarette/ cologne mix on his jacket. Lord take my soul from my body right here, right now, I thought to myself as I felt his eyes drifting over to me.

A/N: I know it's not that great, just wanted to give a small first chapter to lay down the setting. Thanks for reading so far, stay tuned for more(~;
