Jake took me by surprise when he pushed me up against the wall of the old abandoned building.

"Shhh!" he whispered in my face with his finger up to his mouth.

He was flesh up against my body. I could feel his heart racing in-time with mine.

Whats going on? I thought to myself.

Why is he acting like this. It was dark and musty in the old basement and all I could see was a faint glint on his gorgeous brown eyes. He was about six inches taller than me and his perfect blonde hair was perfectly messy.

"What's going on?" I asked quietly.

He shushed me once more. Just then there was a loud noise almost like a stomp with a heavy boot coming from the floor above us.

"I'm sorry I put you in this situation babe. We arent supposed to be here." I looked at him like he was stupid. Well of course we arent supposed to be here stupid! I thought and laughed to myself.

I could hear voices above us.

"What are they saying?" I whispered to him.

"What are you talking about? I don't hear a thing." He looked at me confused. His arms were above my head like he was protecting me. Like he thought the people upstairs were the most dangerous thing ever.

I felt my ears perk up.

"You told me she was right here!" A man's voice yelled.

"Sir I swear I saw her and some boy right in the foyer! Hey doufus," he holered "you saw them too right?"

"Yeah, yeah boss. I saw 'em too. He ain't lyin'" The other one, 'doufus', sounded like he may have been one of those kids who probably fell asleep in english. Maybe that's why they refered to him as doufus.

"Well then where are they!" The bigger one yelled at the other two.

"Are they talking about you?" Jake moved his mouth at my ear and whispered. His breath made me shiver and gave me goosebumps. He didn't notice and I didn't answer him.

"Well we need to find her. The big guy wants her by tomorrow night. Says that she is the key to all of the others." The big one stared to walk out and the other two followed close behind.

"Hey Mac. This place is a creepy." The doufus said to the other.

"Shut up and keep walking idiot." Then they were gone.

Jake removed his arms from above me and kissed my forehead. He still looked concerned and he opened his mouth like he was going to ask me that question again but I think he gave up on it because he just shut it again.

"We need to get out of here." He took me by the hand and we left for my house. The old abandoned house was more like a mansion and Jake and I loved going there because it was so quiet and there was no longer a street that went by it and there was no traffic noises. Another good thing was that it was very close to my townhouse so we could walk there because he live right across the street. Jake took me to it about a year ago while on a free period. He knew I liked adventure so he led me to the gorgeous home.

We stopped at my front porch and Jake opened his mouth again.

"So what was that all about?" He asked moving a peice of my brown bangs away from my face. He looked into my hazel eyes and asked it again.

"Marie, what was that they were talking about?" He took my chin in his hands and waited for my answer.

"It was really nothing. Just some crazy people probably looking for someone else." I was a really bad lier. And he could tell.
