Chapter 1 - I meet a talking wolf

I should have rather stayed at home and took a bath.

Hello, nice to meet you, my name is Jason Grace and I am 11 years old. I was an ordinary kid just like any other American. Yeah right, 'was'. Why? Thanks to my step mom.

It all started when I was 2 years old when Thalia came running into the house followed by very huge and deadly... (Dog like creatures). The dogs would have killed us all if it hadn't been for the lightning that fell upon them, exploding the roof and disintegrating them. That incident totally freaked out mom, but she looked like she knew something that I and Thalia didn't.

A week passed away without any extraordinary occurrences and I was starting to forget that not so little incident, when my entire life changed. It was Sunday morning when mom took us out for a little picnic. The sky was clear and sunny but I felt like a storm was coming.

Thalia said to me on the way "I think dad is coming to visit us."

I said "How do you know?"

Thalia said "Mom's looking a little happy."

I said "Well, that can be anything, right?"

Thalia said "Not quite. After that incident she would have never taken us out, if it wasn't something important. And I can also sense a powerful presence, do you?"

I said "Your mind is playing games."

Thalia said "Maybe you are right."

But actually, I was also sensing a presence, a very powerful presence. When we found a good spot, mom spread the mat on the ground. Just then Thalia said "Is dad coming?"

It took a moment for her to reply.

Mom said, a little nervous "No, why did you ask?"

Thalia said "Nothing, just like that."

Mom said "Oh I see! You should now go and fetch the picnic basket from the car."

Thalia said "Jason, let's go."

Mom said "NO. Leave him here, dear."

Thalia stormed out without saying a word. I stood silent wondering what made mom so angry, when suddenly out of nowhere appeared a lady in glimmering robes with a golden aura surrounding her.

Mom said "Who are you? I thought Zeus... I mean Jupiter was going to come."

Lady said "Feel honored mortal that you even received an invitation from the king of the gods and as for whom I am, I am Juno, the queen of the gods and the immortal wife of Jupiter."

I didn't like the sound of word mortal.

Mom said in a little nervous tone "Why was I asked to bring Jason along?"

Juno said "On to the point then. I need this child to do me a favor."

I said "Me?"

Juno said "Yes, you. I need you to go to Lupa and show your worth."

I said "Excuse me?"

Mom said "I was not told about this. You cannot take away my son."

Juno said "Of course I can. I am a goddess."

I said "Is this some kind of play."

Juno said "This is serious matter child. You don't know how important role you play in the..."

I said "So, this is a play."

Juno said "It isn't."

I said "Then why are you talking about roles?"
