Chapter 10- Sacrifice

WELL WE DIDN'T HAVE A WHITE BULL FOR SACRIFICE...

So we thought we would just clean the Santa Monica beach (a portion at least) that ought to make the sea god happy.

Mark said "Should we burn the garbage."

Ashley said "Uh... I think."

I said "Well, it's three in the morning so nobody would come out of their bed to stop us."

We scooped all the garbage at one place and ignited it.

Mark said "It seems okay."

Ashley said "I have got some marshmallows."

We all knelt praying to Neptune to come... and do whatever he wants to do.

I opened my eyes and there in front of me was Neptune in just the outfit we had earlier seen him, the background this time complemented the look.

"Drink this potion" said Neptune "Then you can enter my realm and complete your task, thoroughly."

We drank as he told us, the mixture was very bitter (the cheeseburger seem to be delicious at this moment). I felt nothing for a while then suddenly a sharp pain rose at my neck; I could feel myself gasping for breath.

"Go to the water, it will sooth you" said Neptune

I reached out and put my head inside the water, suddenly a gush of relief throughout my body. I took my head out of the water.

I shrieked "What did you do to us?"

Neptune said "You have developed gills, for 24 hours. Do your job and..."

The image of Neptune seemed to be shimmering, and then suddenly it again was normal.

He said "You have 24 hours to fulfill your quest, and the clock has already started ticking."

A golden light started coming out of Neptune's hand.

He continued "Follow the light; it will lead you to... my palace. But beware; you're on your own. No more help from me."

A wave washed over me and then he was gone...

Ashley shouted "Catch the light"

He had removed his T-shirt and was frantically trying to wrap it around the magical orb...

I quickly went over the beach, breathing heavily, towards our luggage. I quickly hung the bags, handed them over to Mark and went over to help Ashley.

Ashley exclaimed "Yeah! Got it. Give me a new shirt, will you?"

Mark had segregated the supplies and stuffed all the essentials into one bag, hid the rest among the boats. We had removed our shoes and changed into lighter and tighter clothes that we had specially packed knowing that we had to go underwater.

Ashley said "Okay. On your positions, get set, GO!"

And he released the orb, it floated around for some time and then dipped into the water, we followed.

I said "This is crazy; we can't swim all the way to the castle."

Mark said "How are you able to speak underwater?"

I said "I don't know. How are you?"

Mark said "I don't know."

Ashley said "Look the orb's getting brighter."

It was, we swam faster almost in touching distance. It was getting brighter, brighter and brighter... then suddenly it started expanding resembling almost a mirror only without a reflection.

Ashley touched the surface, his hand passing through then his whole body. Mark went next and then I. Passing through it felt as if my body was separating almost as if I was a fluid, then being pressed back together; in short it was a head-aching experience. Don't try this at home.

But for the view on the other side it was worth it.

The mighty underwater palace surrounded with an embellishing glow, royal arches, high pillars..... all in all visualize it 1000 times more majestic than Buckingham palace.

Ashley said "Well, we are at the sea's reign. Let's get going."

I said "What about the orb?"

Mark said "Umm... try touching it O'mighty son of Jupiter."

I snorted and touched its outer edge, its glow seemed to lessen and it was back to its original form.

I said "Savvy!"

Ashley said, gesturing forward "Shall we?"

I said "Ladies first."

Mark said "Why you guys looking at me?"
