Riley's POV

"Hey Riles, Me and your dad have to tell you something." My mom called out. Her and my step dad were sitting on the couch. They usually do this when they have really big news like last they did this was 6 years ago when they told me I'm going to have another little brother.
"Yeah mom, what is it?" I said really worried what was about to happen.
" We are moving to Tree Hill, North Carolina. Alex got a promotion to be under sheriff there." My mom stated.
"Well I guess that's good how long till we move." I questioned.
" Well you and your brothers are going down there tomorrow to start school and you guys are going to be living in a hotel till your mom sells the house and I finish my month left of this job. Once we are done we will move into our new house."
" Wait so I only have a day to say bye to all of my friends and my coach. Thanks for the heads up." I stormed off into my room. I started staring at the wall of memories I had pictures of my friends and I since 1st grade. I couldn't just leave it all behind. I start thinking about how difficult it would be starting school in the second quarter of Junior year. Basketball would have probably already started. I started packing up since I already knew there was no way to talk my mom and Alex out if this decision.

*Two Hours Later*
I had just finishing packing up everything I needed. I would be pretty much alone for a minimum of one month. I decided to call my friends and told all of them to meet me at our secret hideout we found when we were around seven. It was our secret oasis palm trees everywhere. It was like a mini beach that only we knew about. I got in my 63' yellow VW Bug and raced there trying to hold the tears back.
"Hey Riles, what's up." Ashley asked.
"Hey dude you look sad." Tyler asked.
" Yeah I kind of am. I just got really sad news." I explained.
" Riley, you okay." Ashley asked.
" No I'm not. I'm moving to North Carolina tomorrow." I explained tears rolling down my face.
" What Riley?! This can't be true." I heard both of my friends scream. "The basketball team is going to suck now your the only good player." Tyler explained.
" That's not my only worry. I'm going to have to move down there by my self for a while with Conner and Carter." I explained." Hey can you guys do me one favor though."
"Yeah sure Riley." Ashley said.
" Can you guys come with me to the airport to drop me off?" I asked.
" Wait, what about your car?" Ashley asked.
"My moms driving it down there. Since they are selling the junk mobile. And using Alex's truck to drive all of our stuff down there."
" Well at least they are getting rid of that awful car." Tyler said.
I laughed. The junk mobile was a car that my moms had since high school and me and both if my brothers have pretty much grown up in it. Also it looks like it's never been cleaned a day in its life and the muffler drags on the road.
" Hey I got to go help Conner pack his bag. I will call you guys an hour before we leave to got to the airport. Ok." I explained waterfalls rolling down my face.
" Best friends right." Tyler asked.
We all put our hands in the middle doing our secret hand shake.
"Right" Ashley and I both say.
" Conner stop throwing stuff your going to get us in trouble." I say trying not to shout.
"Carter,what are you writing about?"
"I'm writing a story about how you will meet your real dad."
" Why would you write about that?"
" I feel like you should be able to meet your real dad. Since we know our real dad so should you." He explained.
" You are a pretty smart 6 year old."
"Conner, why can't you be nice like Carter. He's six and your eleven. Come on dude get it together."
" Whatever,Riley! I'm going to watch tv leave me alone." Conner turns the tv on. It's on the person in front of us back of his headrest. He turns on football. I think to my self this is going to be a long month.
