The next day at high school we all met outside Sophia's locker to discuss what happened last night, except Jensen because he was a year older and was in class. The corridor was empty because everyone was in class while we were on a free period. The school hallway must have been designed by a manic depressive, either that or someone obsessed with greyish blue. The teachers had done their bit, hanging posters in all the colours, yet the overall impression was dullness.
Lily: "you guys remember what happened last night, right?" Amy: "yeah, what was that thing though?" Sam: "it seemed like some sort of dark entity, like ghost or something!" Lexi: "it still doesn't explain why it came after us though" Freddie: "maybe because nobody goes there. It is haunted remember" Sophia: "and cursed! But the board did say danger, maybe we shouldn't have gone there" Amy: "true! Omg what if something could have followed us back, trying to kill us, what if the ghost was a murderer and was coming to kill us!" Sam: "babe, stop being so paranoid! We will ALL be fine" lily: "that's the thing we might not be! What if Amy is right! What if we released something by being there and its after us. We could all be in danger! I've had this feeling that something is following me and us and I just can't shake it!" Freddie: "my brother is probably right, you could be paranoid because it was really creepy there and places like that can make you feel like that"
The sound of the bell echoes through the corridors, followed by doors opening and laughter sounds along the halls, joined with excited conversations and shouts. Model worthy girls lean against the lockers gossiping and giggling, a football fly's past their heads while two jocks in varsity jackets parading their toned muscles chase after it. Groups of high schoolers stand around the halls laughing and causing all kinds of ruckus, all except that one group that sit silently against the wall staring at their laptop screens with massive headphones which appear to be permanently strapped to their heads. We all split up and head to our classes. On my way to class a breath of air brushes my ear. I follow the breeze to see a blue striped paper plane gracefully gliding through the air before sliding across the hall to stop with its nose against the wall.
My class was the usual boring math lesson that every unfortunate person takes some time in their life. After school, I walked home passed the graveyard I usually walk by but something about today wasn't right. I stopped for a second and I swear I saw a figure behind a tree staring at me. The figure was familiar to me. For a split second. No, it couldn't have been. It looked like... like my mom!
