♛Chapter Two♛ || The Underdog

My eighth grade year ended with me almost being a nobody.

Almost, but not quite.

I hardly talked to Andrew after that, and I am sure he had no problem with that. I didn't want him or his pity.

Those last few months of middle school were the most dreadful times I have lived, which isn't much. Thankfully I had my real, genuine friends there for me and that was Violet and Korin.

We were the best trio ever...

Until high school came into the picture.

Freshmen year of high school, also known as the being your immature years of high school was where everything changed. We all did stupid shit as freshmen, don't even lie. We look back and see how embarrassing we were.

I'm embarrassed right now just writing about freshmen year. Although even if it was our embarrassing years, it is where we all find our true selves.

Sounds cliché, right? Hell, cliché is cliché. Do you get what I mean? It is totally overused, especially in high school.

I feel that being cliché is like living in fantasy crap. The nerdy, good girl does not get the hot, bad boy. Maybe that situation happens, but it's super rare. And when I say rare I mean that it is as rare as me dating the married prince of England. It is very, highly unlikely to happen... especially with my kind of luck.

Okay, back to what I was saying: Freshmen year of high school is where we all figure out that it isn't some cliché fairy tale where we always get what we want.

That's okay though because this is where we finally grow up without really realizing it.

I'm totally kidding, it's not 'okay' to grow up. Growing up is like losing every drop of your imagination, so I advise you to stay as young as you possibly can. I try my best to and I think I am doing absolutely amazing. If you are wondering how I do it, all I do is remind myself of this quote:

“Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.”

― C.S. Lewis

If you suddenly grow up without realizing it, then just remember that you will always come back to your childhood memories. It is difficult to just forget your favorite childhood shows like "That's So Raven" or "Kim Possible."

I have made a theory about people in high school. It's quite accurate, although, it doesn't exactly apply to everyone since not everyone is the same.

 Megan's super awesome theory:

Everyone tries their hardest to stay young in high school, to live while they can. You know that new slang "YOLO" (You only live once)? If you didn't know that slang then you are definitely living under a rock, my friend.

Anyways, teenagers try their best to stay young, right? And being young is having an imagination or living in a fairy tale. And fairy tales always live in happy endings, and I am guessing that's what we all look for as teenagers. We all look for that fairy tale happy ending where we all graduate with awesome grades, with awesome best friends, with an awesome boyfriend/girlfriend, with all problems solved. No worries about anything.

Hakuna Matata...

As teenagers, we all hold high standards and expectations for others, and we are held to uphold others' standards and expectations. We try our best to aim for perfection.
