It had been some time before I awoke again. I was on the cold floor as I heard gunfire from outside the door. I groaned softly and tried to stand. Stumbling, I made my way to the door, banging on it. I hadn't noticed that I was able to see once more, yet the room was still darkness. I felt as if I was nothing but a hollow shell. I craved the sweet flesh of my friends. I guess this was it... My end..
The door soon unlocked and opened. I hissed softly as light flooded in. Takeo, Nikolai, and Dempsey held me down. "Richtofen! Now!" Nikolai yelled. I felt something go into my arm, causing me to calm down as they let me go. "This better work, Richtofen. If I lose her, it'll be your ass." Dempsey threatened. "Trust me, Dempsey. It will work this time." Richtofen replied softly as their voices faded out and I was met with darkness again.
I awoke with my head pounding. Looking around, I tried to stand, but failed horribly. Back on the ground, I crawled my way over to the door. just as I reached the doorknob, it had opened to reveal an exhausted Dempsey. I quickly stood and hugged him tight as he held me close. I cried into his chest. Everything hurt. Dempsey looked at me, making sure I was alright. "How do you feel?" He asked, wiping my eyes dry. "I'm fine, Dempsey.. I feel fine.. How long have I been out?" I looked up at him. "I want to say about 17 hours. It was a difficult time, trying to protect you from yourself and other zombies."
"Where are the others?" I asked as he helped me stand. He didn't answer, and proceeded to escort me out of the house we were in.We found the others outside, talking to an older man. The two of us had arrived when the man said, "You snowflakes shouldn't even still be here." Confused, I looked over at Richtofen. "You should be fading out of existence by now. Those blood vials..." The man said. Richtofen replied, "I was wondering when you would bring this up."
"They're from realities we already closed off. They shouldn't be here, they CAN'T be here! Such a paradox means you're putting my perfect world at risk." The man ranted on. Still weak, I found myself unable to keep my eyes open. I nuzzled close to Dempsey as he held me close.I awoke to a cheering crowd. I was behind the four men, but they were wearing strange clothes and wielded magical staffs. Confused and still quite dazed, I tried to stand on my own, but fell onto Dempsey, who caught me before I hit the ground. I smiled a bit as I regained my balance. It was strange to say after all the shit I've been through, I never knew that it'd make me sane. From zombie bite to my recovery, I managed to find love in a zombie apocalypse and regain the sanity I had once lost. This American soldier holding me in his arms helped me see things differently, along with friendships I never thought I'd make.
Might as well make the best of this new reality.
