Pete is in love with Mikey, though the latter doesn't even know he exists.
Desperate for reciprocated affection, he hires Patrick, a professional matchmaker and love expert.
The mission?
Make Mikey fall in love with Pete before Valentine's day.
It...
This was Patrick's favorite time of the year, always had been since he was a just a child. He enjoyed the practice of dressing up in whatever his little heart desired and receiving treats door to door. He used to go with his parents and siblings and scurry around the neighborhood at an awe for other costumes and then eat as much of his candy when they got home until his stomach ached and he'd earned a trillion cavities. The past was always so much sweeter when he was youthful and full of spirit. He still enjoyed Halloween festivities, but they weren't as innocent as they'd been when he was younger.
There was always alcohol and partying involved, and Patrick was never much of a party animal or drinker for that matter. The only parts he did enjoy about being invited to things was picking out an outfit. He liked to get creative even with the simplest ideas. He could turn a boring, typical zombie into something more eye-catching and fresh just as he could with a vampire or his favorite musician. This year Patrick had decided that he would be the devil, but not a scary, over the top, gross rendition but rather something cuter and sexier than his last few costumes.
He'd went out and bought a red suit paired with a matching bow-tie and some blinking devil horns for the occasion just a few weeks before. Now he stood in front of his mirror, adjusting the glittery tail tied to his belt and smudging some more eyeliner across his eyelids. He heard Elisa come into his bedroom then and stop to look at him. "I think the smoke alarm is broken," she told him. "What? Really?"
"Because there's definitely something burning hot in here!" "Shut up," he laughed. "What're'ya getting all dressed up for, beautiful? Am I going to have to stay here all alone handing out candy?" "This is the only time I'll ever allow Brad into my house, but you can invite him over for a movie or something on the condition that nothing sexual happens. If I suspect you guys got frisky you won't hear the end of it from me."
"Okay. Okay. Where are you off to?" "I arranged for me and Pete to go to a bar for some karaoke. I'm trying to give him date options for when I think he's ready to take Mikey out for a first date before the Valentine's party." "He's going to be having a hard time thinking about Mikey when he gets a load of you," she said.
"Stop flattering me, El. I've seen a picture of the guy. He's cuter than me by a landslide, and Pete wouldn't be interested in someone like me in a million years. I'm not even his type. He's like consumed by everything that has to do with that guy." "You don't seem to approve of the relationship," Elisa muttered as she came up behind him to hug his waist. "Well, it's not the healthiest thing in the world, but our tactics seem to be working. I like to think of it as setting two friends up just a little more extreme, and one of them has no idea it's happening."
"What about your morals, 'Trick? It's like you're working dirty, lying and scheming behind this Mikey guy's back and not allowing him to naturally fall for Pete if that was something that's supposed to happen anyway. You're forcing it, and you know it," she said, letting him go and putting her hands on her hips in an authoritative stance. "Chill out. This thing that Pete and I are doing is perfectly fine and moral because by Valentine's Day they'll both be in love, and there'll be a happily ever after ending like in the fairy tales."
Elisa sighed and headed out of the room. "Don't say I didn't warn ya when it backfires." Patrick laughed and finished applying his makeup. He texted Pete afterwards to make sure he was ready before he would pick him up.
Pete:O ya im ready ;)
