Elison caught up to his mother, who had already raced ahead. The long hallway to the entrance of the airport seem never ending, but he didn't mind. He wanted to take everything in slowly. As he finally caught up to his mother, she turned to face him. "Its a new start Elison. No one knows us here and we don't new them.." she stopped for a minute in her sentence, her facial expression lit up as she finished. "Remember! First impressions mean something!" Elison smiled at his mother's energy, and they went to the car. As Elison entered the passengers seat of the car, His mother got behind the wheel and they both sped off to their new start.
No longer than 2 hours into the car ride did they come up to a small neighborhood, the very same place where Elison would spend the rest of his childhood. They entered the narrow driveway that presented their future. Elison looked at the street sign, reading it aloud. "Playfield Court." His mother looked over at the worn out child and smiled to herself. They both exited the vehical standing side by side staring up at the house before them, hoping one day they may call it home. Elison' s mother drew her attention away to face him, "Well kiddo, better get some rest because tommorow you start your first day of school!" Elison sighed and gave a sarcastic expression, heading inside the new house. When he opened the door, he saw nothing but plain walls and empty floors. He set his stuff down and headed up stairs. His mother soon entered with a blow up mattress and airpump. She figured Elison had headed upstairs to claim his bedroom, and headed to where he was. Elison claimed one of the master bed rooms, which seemed very large due to the fact that it was completely empty. He just liked the fact that it had a giant window where he could see the outside world at his own leisure. He entered the bathroom connected to he room which was also quite large. He stood in front of the bathroom mirror, noticing his messy brown hair and bags under his glistening green eyes. His mother entered the bathroom unexpectedly, scaring him. "Oh my god! Jesus mom, you scared me!" She chuckled and rubbed his head, messing up his hair even more than it was. "Come on sleepy head, I'm gonna blow up the mattress so you can finally get some sleep." Elison nodded his head and followed her into the room. The mattress was blown up in no time, and he finally laid down to get some rest. Thoughts raced through his head, thoughts of music and ideas. Who would his new friends be? And who would he become? Would he find someone he loves, and would he have an easy year? These thoughts soon brought him to sleep, where he finally felt comfortable.
Morning soon rose as Elison's mother entered the empty room. She held in her hand a t-shirt, jeans, and Elison favorite hoodie. She set the clothing items down next to the mattress then woke up Elison. He moaned out of tiredness, then turned to see his mother, "Good morning Mom." He said with a unenergized tone. "Good morning sweetheart, today's a big day! First day in Maryland! Get ready for school, then I have breakfast downstairs." He nodded then his mother exited the room. He sat up in the mattress, then stared at the ceiling for a few seconds before getting up to get ready. He noticed the pile of clothes next to him then snatched them up and put them on. He looked in the mirror and fixed his hair the best he could then ran downstairs. He entered the kitchen area where he saw grocery bags set up on the counter, and his mother. She extended her arm to him handing him a plate with pancakes and bacon while she licked pancake batter off the fingers of the other. "Thank you mom, love you." He hugged his mother and kissed her head then ate up for the day ahead. He watched his mother as she scrambled to prepare her own breakfast. "Mom, do you need any help?" She turned around and smiled, "Oh no that's not necessary!" She looked down at her watch, and looked back at Elison, "but you do need to go! School starts in 20 minutes!! Love you!" Elison shot up from the stool and stuffed his mouth, grabbing his bag and running out the door, shouting, "Love you too mom!" On his way out. He ran down the porch steps, and went on his way to school.
The walk seemed never eneding. Leaves fell from Orange trees above, and sticks crunched under his feet. He mindlessly wondered the sidewalk path that would lead him to his new start. Just as he turned a blind corner, there laid his school. "Yorkland High." He said to himself as he made his way to the building. Many faces passed by him as he wondered into the building. He spotted a boy his age who seemed to be waiting for something, he stared at him, confused. The boy stood with his head in the clouds, then shot out of his daydream to see Elison. "OH! I'm sorry! You're Elison Roben right?" Elison was confused as to how he knew him, but he nodded. "Hey Elison, I'm Sammy Smithson! The school wanted me to show you around and eh, stuff like that." He extended his hand to Elison and Elison reached out to shake his hand. He jumped a bit at the warmth of Sammy's hand. Sammy stood for a second looking lost, then gathered his thoughts and continued speaking. "Uh, well, let me show you to your first class." Elison followed Sammy and the two boys headed to their 1st block class.
