I don't know I haven't ever been in trouble before. I haven't even gotten detention. I never once got a card pulled in elementary, never once got a call home, and certainly never missed recess. Now I've gone from zero to a hundred on the very first day of my sophomore year. What's my mom gonna say? I had a lump lodged in my throat and I felt like I might burst into tears.

We made it to the sophomore office and the principal held the door open for us as we walked into the waiting room. Giving us dissaproving looks as we passed him.

He then lead us to a room towards the back with floor to ceiling windows. Looking through the windows I could see a long table with two chairs at each end if it. There were three chairs on both sides of the table.

A conference room.

Once again he held the door open and gestured for all of us to have a seat. The girls and I sat on the left side of the table, while the boys sat on the right. Mr. Carmen shut the door and the sound reverberated through the silent room. He made his way to the head of the table, not sitting.

"Tell me why I shouldn't just suspend all of you?" He asked, but it sounded more like a demand. I looked down at my hands because I knew if I looked up I might start crying. Anxiety does that to a person.

"Mr. Guss?" I glanced up to see he was looking to the guy in the leather jacket. I didn't think he was going to answer so when he did it took me by surprise.

"I don't know sir, but I do know that we shouldn't be the ones sitting at this table," he said pointing to himself and the other two boys. I looked back down at my hands, ashamed of myself.

"Oh?" He questioned. "And why is that?"

"Because, sir, we aren't the ones who shouted 'food fight' and covered others in food," Guss looked over at us and gave Kayla a pointed stare . "They are."

"Oh really? Why should I believe you?" I snapped my head back up and looked at the principal. "These girls, aside from Ms.Lyn, have outstanding records, where as you, Mr. Voss, and Mr. Montoya have had your share in many detentions."

"No, Mr. Carmen. He's right." Kayla interjected. "They shouldn't be punished for something we did, you can even check the camera's. It was all us."

He looked taken aback for a second. Then he looked at April and I. "Is this true Ms. Johnson?" I swallowed the lump in my throat and glanced to April, who had no emotion on her face. She looked as cool as a cucumber. She was always good at keeping her cool in situations and I envied that.

I cleared my throat, but my voice still came out small and shaky. "Yes sir," I felt hot and embarrassed and there was no doubt I was flushed. I'm a spy and I can't even keep my cool. What does that say about me?

"I'm disappointed in you girls," Mr. Carmen shook his head then looked me dead in the eye. "But I'm disappointed the most in you, Ms. Johnson," I looked back down at my lap as I felt my eyes water.

"Mr. Voss, can you answer me this?" Mr. Carmen asked as he sat down.

"Yes, sir," I heard the boy acknowledge.

"Did you throw any food? Did your comrades throw any?"

"Well technically sir, I didn't throw food per se, but I guess it would be considered as such, so yes sir. Yes I did throw food. And yes my friends did as well." He rambled.

"Well would you consider that to be guilty by association, Mr. Montoya?" Mr. Carmen asked.

"W-well I g-guess so. . ." He trailed off. "And why is that?"
