Dani
"Dad? Daddy?" Vanessa yelled as her father fell to the floor. "Somebody call 911!" She screamed.
"Vanessa, I'm already on it. Calm down, you're making Faith nervous." I said and took Faith from Vanessa.
~~~
"Look, ma'am, we got him stable. But he's in a coma. You have a newborn child, I think you should go home." One doctor said. I stared at Vanessa.
"Being in a coma is not stable. I want to talk to the leading doctor."
"Vanessa, stop. Let's just go. Please." I said, pulling on her arm. She obliged and took us home.
As we got inside, Vanessa handed me Faith and locked herself in her room.
I put Faith in her swing and waited for Lin to come home. Faith started to cry, and there was nothing I could do. She was hungry. And I knew Vanessa was *cough* breast *cough* feeding *cough*. I knocked on Vanessa's door. "Faith is hungry! You need to come be her mother for like five minutes!" Vanessa came out of the room and fed Faith. I stood awkwardly in the corner of the room on my phone. After feeding Faith, Vanessa burped her and put her back in the swing. And of course, locked herself in her room again.
I watched the small child until Lin came inside and sat on the couch. "Hey hija. What's up?" He looked to the baby. "Where's V?"
"Locking herself in your bedroom because her father is in a coma." I stated looking at the floor. "We went to see Frank and he had a major heart attack. Now Vanessa isn't paying attention to Seb or Faith." I said, leaving myself out of the mix of kids not getting attention.
"Or you. You're not getting attention either hija."
"Aren't you supposed to be mad at me. Can we just go back to that right now?" I asked, surprising myself as I did.
"Maybe I can. Go to your room and give me your phone." Lin said.
"But?" I said, annoyed with his reaction.
"Phone. You can have it back when you're ready to call me dad. And call Vanessa mom."
"But that could be years!" I protested but Lin just gave me a stern look.
"Then you'll go without a phone for years." He replied in a cool tone and shooed me off.
"This isn't fair!" I said and slammed my bedroom door behind me. I hated Lin in the moment. I hated myself. I hated everything. I took my razor blade and pressed it to my skin. When no one was in the hall, I went to the bathroom and grabbed a bottle of pain medication. Like the really strong stuff. I ran back to my room. I closed the door and left it unlocked. Yup, I'm an idiot. I made deep incisions on my wrists, deep enough to where I could bleed out. Then, I swallowed a handful of the pain killers. I wrote two notes. I dripped blood all over them and didn't care. I wrote long letters in messy hand writing to Lin and a short one to Vanessa.
Dear Lin,
Thanks for nothing. You saved me from crappy Foster care. But for what? The fame? The minute I do something stupid, the minute I fuck up, you have to go and punish me. You hate me and that's fine. You sent the dogs after my scent, that's fine. I just quoted your show to you. I hope that you burn. I wish that you had let me die on the hard wood floor at the Ozera house hold. I wish that you had never adopted me.
If this is just a bunch of things I wish you never did, then there's a lot more. I wish you just let me be. Wish you never tried to get me to call you dad. That pushed me over the edge. And I know that there's blood everywhere but I can't tell if I'm sorry or not. How does one know those things?
