Josh
We're driving down towards my parent's home.
Honestly, I couldn't be any more terrified than I already am.
My father will not accept me.
I look over at Tyler for a second.
He shouldn't be here for this.
He's going to witness something bad.
And I don't want to see Tyler scared.
My father won't just disown me.
I take in a few deep breaths, realizing how close we are to the house.
I drive down a few more blocks and park in a drive way.
I look over at Ty, "Well, this is it."
"You're going to be fine, Josh."
I won't.
"I know, I'm just scared."
He sighs, "Let's get it over with, yeah?"
We get out of the car and walk towards the door.
I knock a couple of times.
The door opens.
My mom has a smile on her face.
My dad is behind her.
"Joshua, honey! We weren't expecting you!" She says, wrapping me in a hug.
I look at my father, which is looking at Tyler.
She lets go and looks aside.
"Oh, and this must be Tyler!"
She gives him a hug as well.
"So nice to meet you, dear."
I finally start talking, "So I'm here to tell you both that we got the apartment. We are moving in tomorrow. Thank you so much, momma. For helping us with everything."
"Of course, honey. It was the least I could do."
My father just stands there.
I look at Tyler, he gives me a nod.
"A-Also, This is Tyler. My boyfriend."
I look at my parents.
My mom looks genuinely happy.
My father on the other hand, not so much.
He steps up to me.
Tyler quickly holds my hand.
"Boyfriend? Joshua, I did not raise you to be this way."
I was about to speak, when I hear Tyler's voice.
"No sir, you didn't. Josh was born like this and there is nothi-"
My father cuts him off, "Bullshit. You aren't born with this non sense. Joshua, you aren't ga-"
I cut him off this time, "Yes, dad. I am gay. Like Tyler was saying, you can't change that. It doesn't matt-"
His fist comes in contact with my jaw.
I hear Tyler gasp.
"Fuck!" I yell.
I am now grabbing my jaw with my hand.
Tyler starts, "Are you serio-"
"Don't make me hit you too."
I slowly take my hand off and there's red stains.
