I woke up in the hospital, Ben was sitting in a chair nearby, staring off into the distance with tears in his eyes.

"Hey, you." I called out, my voice hoarse.

His head immediately snapped over to me. When he saw me ooking at him, he got up and walked over to me.

"Hey sunshine. How are you feeling?" he said, stroking my head.

"Not so great." I said honestly.

"Well Chuck got time, Richard's dead, I got off on self-defense, and the doctor's say you're lucky to be alive." he said, rushing to get everything out.

His optimism killed me, because I could already feel myself slipping away.

"Ben..." I said quietly, my voice filled with sadness and pain.

He looked at me, and for the first time in a long time, he looked scared.

"Please don't die Ash." his voice cracked,"I don't have anybody left. You're all I've got." he said, the last part so quietly that I almost didn't hear it.

"I'm sorry." I said, "It's time for me to go. Okay?"

He nodded, but I could tell he was still upset.

"Hey promise me something. Promise me that you'll move on, and love someone else as much as you loved me, and treat them as well as you treated me, give them the world. Okay? I love you." I said, my voice shaking.

"I love you too." he said while nodding, "I'll always love you."

His last words slowly faded away, and the last thing I felt was his lips on my hand.
