the party

Call me stupid, but I stayed at the party. Usually I wasn't the type of girl that goes to parties but, Ashton had insisted I stay. Something about him made me want to.

"Have you never been to a party before?" He asked judgmentally.

"No- well, yeah, but it was for this--" I said defensively before he cut me off.

"I take that as a no." He looked at me like I was some sort of alien.

There was awkward silence before he said. "Never? In your two- no three years of high school you've never gone, aren't you even curious?"

I turned red but I didn't know what to say so  I looked down and pulled at the edge of my shirt instead.

"Well I guess there's a first time for everything" he said still sounding shocked at the idea. "Anyways there's still a long time before people start coming, so you can sit down and wait if you want."

I sat down and got on my phone so I wouldn't have to talk about this being my first party. Around 9:30 people started coming in. As a large group of football players and cheerleaders were walking in, I saw Lauren come in and talk to Ashton for a second before walking up to me.

"Hey, I'm surprised to see you here!" She mused.

I smiled nervously and said "Yeah, this isn't really my thing- I'll probably be leaving soon."

"Oh what a shame, you know Luke and Callum should show up soon, I better go find them." She said as her eyes scanned the room.

"Oh okay, tell Luke I said hello." I replied as she walked away.

I grabbed my bag and started pushing through sweaty bodies, attempting to get to the door. I was almost there until I heard a slightly drunk Ashton yell my name.

"Clarity!" He slurred, "Where are you going?"

"Um, hopefully home." I said dryly opening up the door.

"No wait- come back." He said as he pulled me by my waist back into the mass of people.

"What are you doing?!" I complained as he dragged me away from the door.

"The party just started, stay a little longer." He said as he pushed me onto the couch and handed me a red cup full of god knows what. I took a small sip when he looked at me offended.

"Relax, I made it myself." He said with a proud smile. He plopped down next to me and put his arm around my shoulder. I stiffened up, and looked at him in shock. He didn't notice though because he had his head turned and he was looking at some girl dancing on the coffee table. She was pretty and wearing a tight pink dress, jealousy flared up inside of me, making me ball my fists. I took a drink and set the cup down. I looked up and pushed his chin in my direction pulling him into a kiss. He grabbed my thigh and pulled me onto his lap. We continued kissing and he put his hands on my waist when a girls voice sounded loudly over the music.

"What the f*ck Ashton? I thought you invited me here as your girlfriend? The girl shouted, her eyes burning holes into him.

Ashton pulled away from me shocked. "Oh, Pandora- no I don't- I didn't mean it like that."

"Oh my god, Pandora?  I thought you-" I started. Pandora was somebody I knew in middle school, I thought she had moved. Our friendship didn't exactly end nicely. She glared at me, I turned bright red and grabbed my bag. "I should leave." I mumbled.
