Stalking threw the hallways of the house; I knocked on the next door I came to four times in quick succession. Hearing the “Come in,” I pushed open the door and, clicking in my 6-inch strappy black Dolce and Gabbanas. I crossed my arms and flicked my hair out of my face.

“Lou, I’ve told you, I’ve got shit to do,” I pouted at Louis Kleith, who was slanted in his chair, one playgirl on each knee licking at his neck while he tried his hardest to keep his attention on what I was saying. “Dear Christ, should I come back later?” I asked, exasperated.

“No, Harls, its fine,” Louis sat up, almost causing the other girls to fall off his lap.

“I mean it Louis, I can’t go to that meeting, I’ve got shit to do,” I repeated.

“Like what?” Louis feigned interest, his hands sliding around each girl’s hips and pulling them closer.

“Homework, don’t forget that while working for you I like to think I’m getting an education.”

“Come off it, Harls, there is no way I’m letting you get away with not coming to this meeting because you have a pathetic little maths sheet to complete for Tuesday,” Louis chuckled at his own joke, but I could hear the seriousness in his voice.

“It’s history coursework actually,” I said sullenly, my temper rising.

“I don’t give a f*** Harls. You will do this deal or I can send your brother in your place, which may end up being pretty unpleasant,” Louis threatened, causing the girls next to him to pause hesitantly.

“You wouldn’t,” I said.

“I think you’ve forgotten who you’re talking to,” Louis stood up, knocking the girls off him completely. “Don’t forget, I’m the one in charge here, not you. Your brother maybe out at the moment but I can pull him right back in. We’ve still got that evidence for the police. You want to stop doing what I tell you, fine, but don’t be surprised if the beloved boys in blue don’t come knocking at your door real quick.”

I took a deep breath, trying (and failing) to cool my temper. “What do you want me to do?”

“Good stuff,” Louis said, perking up almost as if he hadn’t been close to breaking my neck a few seconds ago. “Right, you’ll be off to the meeting with Tony. He’ll be running the meeting so you’ll be there to fill in the blanks and to, how should I put it, appeal to our guest’s male instincts,” Louis grinned like the Cheshire cat.
