Chapter 2

Kristen's POV

We had already landed in Virginia and were all settled into our new house. Now all I had to worry about was the new school I was going to be arriving to tomorrow. Hopefully they weren't like most people I know, stuck up snobs.

I had exactly 12 hours before I had to wake up at 7:00a.m to attend this new school, and I wasn't ready at all. I didn't even have a clue of what I was going to wear.

Carefully I got through my new closet, which I had took hours to organize all my clothes into.

Dress after dress but none of them seemed to catch my eye. Frustrated, I landed on my new bed and stared up to my new ceiling.

This was it. This is where I was going to be living for the past who knows how many years.

My eyes were too heavy to stay open. Slowly, very slowly I drifted off into my first sleep in Virginia.

Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!

I was abruptly awakened by my alarm.

"Shut up!" I yelled at the beeping clock as I slammed my hands down onto it.

I yawned and almost fell back to sleep before realizing, this was my "first day of school."

I spring out of my bed and into my closet, diving for clothes. There had to be at least one thing to wear. I make a mental note to go shopping asap.

I went with a cute floral high waist skirt with a navy blue Abercrombie tee. Good enough.

Sprinting down the stairs, I almost smash into my mom.

"Have a great first day." My mom gives me a huge hug.

"Thanks, but I'm going to be late!" I yell as I grab and apple from the fridge and rush out the door and down to the bus stop, which is only a block away from my new house.

"Crap!" I race back to my house, grab my backpack, and then leave again.

"Bye sweetheart!" My mom yells out the window.

"Bye." I say between bites of my apple. I resolve into throwing the apple core onto the ground, not wanting to have to take it onto the bus.

I run my hands through my light hair and look down at my sperries.

I hear the busses wheels squeaking down the cement. It slowly creaks to a stop I front of me and the doors slide open.

"Get in." The driver yells at me.

"Great way to welcome someone." I mumble and roll my eyes.

"Matt!" I hear someone tell from a seat in the back. A dirty blonde boy is holding up a phone while in hysterics.

"Give me my phone back Matt!" I hear the same guy yell as he reaches for his phone that Matt is swinging back and forth.

"It's not funny!" The guy yells but Matt doesn't listen. He keeps laughing and a bunch of girls join in on the laughter.

Matt's eyes lock with mine and my heart beat quickens.

"Catch!" He winks at me and before I can proses what he's about to do, he throws the phone toward me.

I throw my hands up into the air and snatch the phone before it tumbles to it's death.

"Nice catch." Matt grins at me and motions for me to sit back there with him.

I slowly trudge my way toward the back of the bus and plop down next to Matt.

"You new here?" He asks me.

"Yep." I look straight into his soft brown eyes.

"What's your name?"

"Kristen."

"Cool, why'd you move?" Matt's phone goes of but he ignores it.

"Well-" I stare down at my feet and begin to laugh.

"Why?" Matt asks with a chuckle.

"I kind of got expelled from my old school... It's a long story." I bite my lip and look back up into his eyes.

"You'll have to tell me that later." He says as the bus pulls up in front of a large building which I assume was my new school.

"What classes do you have?" Matt asks me as he stands up to exit the bus.

"I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure I have my schedule in my backpack." I unzip my bag and pull out a sheet of paper that held my schedule.

"Here, let me see." Matt grabs for my paper but I pull away. "Show me!" He laughs.

"Okay here." I smirk and hand him the paper.

"Homeroom Mrs. Peters. Oh you're going to have fun with her." Matt says sarcastically. "Just stay on her good side and you won't have a problem."

Me teeth start to chatter, hopefully I won't make the same mistakes I made at my old school.

"First period trigonometry." Matt looks up at me with a smile developing on his face. "That's the same as me!" He walks off the bus and turns back around to me as I jump off the last step.

"Second period Chemistry." He smiles. "Third period Gym, you pretty much have the same schedule as me, besides Homeroom."

I secretly congratulate myself for befriending Matt.

"See you in first period!" He waves at me as the bell rings. I rush inside to search for my locker.

I walk down the first hallway, looking for locker 2134.

"2131, 2132, 2133, 2134." I stop at my locker and look down at my sheet for the combination.

"11-33-02" I twist the lock and easily pop open the locker.

I quickly grab my books out of my bag and shove my bag into my locker.

I walk down the hallway, hopeful I would find my Homeroom before the late bell. There it was, at the end of the hall, room 45.
